Maddux, Glavine headline stacked Hall of Fame ballot Clay Matthews Camo Jersey

The induction ceremony for the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., next July 27 could have a real Atlanta Braves flavor to it.

Former Green Bay Packers Military Jersey Braves pitchers Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine, each a 300-game winner, head a ballot stacked with superstar newcomers that will be studied by eligible members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America for the next month. The results of the election for 2014 induction will be announced at 2 pm ET on Jan. 8 on and MLB Network, with a news conference at the Waldorf Astoria New York the next day to introduce any elected players.

Former Braves manager Bobby Cox is already among 12 men — including four all-time great managers — on the recently released ballot handed to the Expansion Era Committee, which will announce its determination on Dec. 9 during the first day of the Winter Meetings in Orlando, Fla. Joe Torre, Tony La Russa and Billy Martin are also on that ballot.

Frank Thomas, Jeff Kent and Mike Mussina join Maddux and Glavine as other noteworthy first timers, making this one of the deepest BBWAA ballots in Hall of Fame history. Jack Morris, with 254 victories during his 18-year big league career and World Series titles with the Tigers, Twins and Blue Jays, is on the writers ballot for the 15th and final time. Former Astros second baseman Craig Biggio, who led last year’s voting by being named on 68.2 percent of the ballots cast, returns for a second try.

Maddux Clay Matthews Camouflage Jersey and Glavine, who combined to win 660 games, seem to have the edge.

“It should be without a doubt for either one of them [to be elected], especially with Greg,” said John Smoltz, who joined Maddux and Glavine to form the “Big Three” of the Braves’ rotation for a decade and will be on the ballot himself next year.

“I know there’s been no unanimous [electee] in the history to the Hall of Fame, but I think [Maddux] would be it if there is. I’m biased. I watched Greg and Tom pitch my whole career, basically. They exemplified the fact that over 162 games, they were better than anybody else in the league.”

A year ago, when Packers Camo Football Jersey Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Sammy Sosa and Mike Piazza — hitters whose careers spanned baseball’s era of performance-enhancing drug use — made their initial appearances on the ballot, no one was elected by the writers for the first time since 1996, and only the second since 1971.

Chances are good a shutout won’t happen again this time. Maddux retired with 355 wins, 194 of them in l1 years with the Braves. Glavine had 305 victories, 244 in 17 years for Atlanta. Three hundred wins, like 3,000 hits, has long been a clear benchmark for eventually gaining entrance to the hallowed Hall. Biggio amassed 3,060 hits in 20 seasons, all with the Astros.

As in all Hall ballots, candidates need at least 75 percent of the vote to be elected.

Other first-timers also have fine credentials. Thomas, a first baseman and designated hitter, batted .301, hit 521 homers and amassed 1,704 RBIs in 19 seasons, 16 of them with the White Sox. Kent hit 377 homers in 17 seasons for six teams, 351 of them as a second baseman — the most in history by anyone at that position. Mussina won 270 games and had a 3.68 ERA in 18 seasons with the Orioles and Yankees.

Add to all this the fact that Cox, during his 25 years managing the Braves, had 1,709 of his 2,001 career victories, plus 15 playoff appearances — including 14 division titles, five National League pennants and the 1995 World Series championship.

“I’m confident at some point in time it’s going to happen,” Glavine said about his Hall of Fame chances. “Whether it’s on the first ballot, I don’t know. We’ll see. There are a lot of good players eligible. Would I love to have it happen on the first ballot? Sure. If it doesn’t, I’d be disappointed. But we’ll gear up for the following year and hopefully it will happen the following year.”

Clay Matthews Camouflage Realtree Collection Army Shirts Biggio fell 39 votes shy of election on the 2013 ballot, as he received 388 votes among the 569 ballots cast. Five of those ballots were left blank. He was followed by Morris (67.7 percent), Jeff Bagwell (59.6) and Piazza (57.8). Piazza, it should be noted, hit 396 of his 427 homers as a catcher — the most of any player at that position in Major League history.

Bonds, the all-time home run leader with 762, garnered 36.2 percent of the vote. Clemens, a storied right-hander with 354 wins, did slightly better at 37.6 percent. Sosa, the only slugger to bash more than 60 homers in three different seasons, totaling 609 in his career, had 12.5 percent.

None of the three ever failed a publicly disclosed Major League Baseball-administered drug test, but all of them were once involved in either court cases or congressional hearings about the use of performance-enhancing drugs. Bonds is fighting a felony conviction for obstruction of justice in an appellate court regarding grand jury testimony. Clemens was acquitted of perjury for statements he made at a congressional hearing, and Sosa was called before another congressional hearing to testify.

“For a couple of years now, I think the whole steroids thing has put a twist in it,” said Morris, who needs 42 more votes to make it this time or he can be considered again in three years for the Expansion Era ballot. “A bunch of us guys have been thrown under the bus because they didn’t know what to do with the other pile. That’s unfortunate. It is what it is and I’m not going to fix it.”

Morris Clay Matthews Camo Jersey, who had an American League-best 162 of wins in the 1980s, tops a list of deserving long-time returnees that includes, among others, Bagwell, Lee Smith, Tim Raines, Alan Trammell and Edgar Martinez.

Among the second-timers, Biggio still seems to be on a clear course toward a plaque. Of the 26 other retired players who amassed 3,000 or more hits, only two are not in the Hall, and both have extenuating circumstances. Rafael Palmeiro had 3,020 hits and 569 homers but was suspended for a positive PED test in 2005, his last season in the Major Leagues. Most recently, Palmeiro was on 8.8 percent of the ballots. Pete Rose, the all-time leader with 4,256 hits, is banned from baseball because of gambling and is not eligible to be included on Hall of Fame ballots.

Clearly, though,Clay Matthews U.S Military Days Football Uniform Glavine and Maddux have the inside track. Both were crafty pitchers who were not overpowering but knew how to work both sides of the plate. In their decade together on the Braves from 1993 to 2002, before Glavine left to spend five seasons with the Mets, Atlanta went to the playoffs every season except for 1994, when the postseason was cancelled because of a players strike.

Maddux stayed until 2003, when he returned to the Cubs just the way he left Chicago for Atlanta — as a free agent. Maddux played 10 seasons in Chicago, including his first seven, finishing his career in 2008 after one short tour in San Diego and two stops in Los Angeles with the Dodgers.

Both were picked in the second round of the 1984 First-Year Player Draft and became mainstays of their improving teams. Maddux won 133 games for the Cubs. Glavine was a home-grown member of the Braves, and he returned to finish his career with Atlanta, getting his last two wins during 13 starts with the Braves in 2008.

Now, both of them are on the brink of immortality.

“When I retired, there was that talk of being a future Hall of Famer or whatever,” Glavine said. “Then I think as time went on, it became more a part of the conversation, whether it be every January, or as the calendar clicked closer and closer. Last year, there was a little more talk.

“Now that I’m officially on the ballot, there has been an increase in the conversation. So I think it comes in stages. When I first retired, I knew it was out there. But five years seemed like it was so far away. So in that respect, it’s hard to believe five years have gone by already.”

The remainder of the ballot consists of Moises Alou, Armando Benitez, Sean Casey, Ray Durham, Eric Gagne, Luis Gonzalez, Jacque Jones, Todd Jones, Paul Lo Duca, Edgar Martinez, Don Mattingly, Fred McGriff, Mark McGwire, Hideo Nomo, Rafael Palmeiro, Tim Raines, Kenny Rogers, Curt Schilling, Richie Sexson, Lee Smith, Mike Timlin, Alan Trammell and Larry Walker.

San Francisco Peyton Manning Super Bowl Jersey 49ers top Redskins on low night for RGIII

Robert Indianapolis Colts Peyton Manning Super Bowl Jersey Griffin III and Colin Kaepernick were two of the young supernovas who lit up the 2012 NFL season. They passed each other on a depressing Monday night in Washington that reminded everyone how far Griffin and his team have fallen since.

The San Francisco 49ers throttled the Redskins 27-6, moving the 49ers back into the No. 6 spot in the NFC playoff picture. It was a thorough beatdown by a team with championship aspirations facing a Redskins squad that is “evaluating” for next year.

Washington Peyton Manning Super Bowl Jersey had six drives in the second half; none of them went longer than nine yards. Griffin rarely tried to throw the ball down the field. He took a number of big shots and wasn’t a factor as a runner. He had his lowest passing yardage (127) of the season. His team didn’t score a touchdown for the first time in his football life, dating back to his days at Baylor. The further away Griffin gets from ACL surgery, the more lost he looks.

Griffin, unlike Kaepernick, doesn’t have an outstanding defense to lean on during tough times. RGIIIalso doesn’t make the handful of beautiful throws to the outside that Kaepernick pulls off even during down weeks. And this was no down week.

Peyton Manning Broncos Jersey Super Bowl 48 Kaepernick aggressively went after the Redskins’ defense down the field to Anquan Boldin andVernon Davis. He gave his receivers a chance to make plays and they responded. Kaepernick averaged 9.8 yards-per-attempt with three touchdown throws, his best game since Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers.

The 49ers are 7-4, and they still can get so much better. Ahmad Brooks and Aldon Smith both had two sacks for an improving pass rush. Coach Jim Harbaugh announced after the game that wide receiver Michael Crabtree is expected to play next week. Defensive starters Tarrell Browns and Ray McDonald are expected back from injury.

San Francisco has proven it can crush bad teams. The 49ers have faced five teams currently with a losing record, winning by an average of 23 points. The schedule is very challenging with three division games still left, but it would be an upset if they didn’t make the playoffs.

It also would be an upset if Redskins coach Mike Shanahan still is around next season. Someone has to go in Washington because it’s not working. Griffin isn’t going anywhere.

Left-handed-hitting Fielder, who has 285 home runs and 870 RBIs over eight-plus seasons in the Majors, wasn’t acquired because the Rangers think he can help them win another 90 games. He is here to help the Rangers win a World Series.

“We’re looking for to a lot of good times and a lot of W’s,“When and Where Hold The 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII Game Daniels said.

Fielder said he is “good” with the idea of a World Series championship being the ultimate measure of success.

“That’s definitely the main goal,” Fielder said. “I’m glad we’re all on the same page.”

Peyton Manning Jersey Super Bowl XLIV Fielder, 29, also agreed that this trade only works for the Rangers if he stays productive through the entire length of his contract. He is still has seven years and $168 million left although the Tigers are sending the Rangers $30 million spread over the last five years of the contract to help balance the financial component.

“I’ll just take it year by year,” Fielder said. “It’s definitely not going to be a challenge. I love this game. Why would I do anything that would cause me not to play it the way I should?”

So far Peyton Manning Super Bowl XLVIII Jersey Fielder has had no trouble staying healthy through a Major League career that includes six full seasons with the Brewers and two with the Tigers. He has played in at least 157 games over eight seasons and 162 in each of the last three. He has played in 505 consecutive games going back to Sept. 13, 2010, with the Brewers, the longest current streak in the Major Leagues.

In relating why he likes to play every day, Fielder told a story when he was 11 years old and growing up as the son of former Major League slugger Cecil Fielder.

2014 Super Bowl held on February 2, 2014, at MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey.”I fouled a ball of my shin,” Prince said. “My dad said, ‘You’re not hurt,’ and he walked away. He didn’t talk to me for a day or two. I guess that meant, ‘You should play,’ so I’ve always wanted to play no matter what.”

He played in 162 games for the Tigers in 2013, hitting .279 with 25 home runs, 106 RBIs and a .457 slugging percentage. The home runs and the slugging percentage were his lowest in eight full seasons. His struggles were much worse in the playoffs as he was 9-for-40 (.225) with no home runs or RBIs. Tigers fans were not happy with his performance, which may be why Fielder thinks coming to Texas and wearing No. 84 will mean a fresh start for him.

“No. 1, it’s here, so you might as well accept it,” Fielder said. “Plus, last year, it was last year. Everybody was on me because of the way I played, and rightfully so. I stunk. Hopefully we can make better memories this season.”

Fielder was also criticized for not showing more passion or outward frustration, especially during the playoffs.

“It was unfair,” Fielder said. “If I had thrown a helmet, I would be called a crybaby.”

Case Keenum Jersey Angels to sign former Indians reliever Smith

The Case Keenum Nike Elite Football Shirts Angels and free-agent reliever Joe Smith agreed to a three-year contract worth just over $15 million on Saturday night, sources confirmed to The deal, first reported by Jon Heyman of and MLB Network, won’t be announced until Smith completes a physical on Wednesday.

Smith Case Keenum Jersey has been one of the most effective and durable relievers in baseball over the last three years, compiling a 2.42 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP while averaging 71 appearances for the Indians. For the Angels, the 29-year-old right-hander will provide a major boost to the back end of the bullpen, joining closer Ernesto Frieri, lefty Sean Burnett, and power right-handers Michael Kohn, Dane De La Rosa and Kevin Jepsen, among others.

But his signing also hinders the Angels’ ability to add starting pitching.

The Angels took on about an extra $4 million in salary during Friday’s trade, which sent outfieldersPeter Bourjos and Randal Grichuk to the Cardinals for third baseman David Freese and relieverFernando Salas. That trade, coupled with the Smith signing, leaves the Angels with roughly $8 million of wiggle room before hitting the luxury-tax threshold of $189 million.

As of now, only Jered Houston Cougars Case Keenum Jersey Weaver, C.J. Wilson and Garrett Richards are slated for the 2014 rotation, with Tommy Hanson and Jerome Williams being non-tender candidates and Joe Blanton — a possibility to be released — not being given a spot on the staff. The Angels are still looking for two starters, with the perceivable scenario being one free-agent addition and another starter coming via trade.

Second baseman Howie Kendrick, shortstop Erick Aybar and first baseman Mark Trumbo are being dangled in pursuit of cost-controlled starting pitching, with Kendrick the most likely of the three to be dealt.

Smith, an Ohio product, was taken by the Mets in the third round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft and has compiled a 2.97 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP and a 1.97 strikeout-to-walk ratio in seven seasons in the big leagues. Smith isn’t a high-strikeout guy and doesn’t throw very hard, but he’s been effective against righties and lefties throughout his career. He ranks 23rd in the Majors since 2011 in ground-ball percentage, among relievers who have appeared in at least 150 games.

The Case Keenum University College Jersey Angels’ 40-man roster is currently full, so a corresponding move would have to be made to get Smith on it.

In an effort to help supplement their struggling running game the Baltimore Ravens turned to the Wildcat formation during their 19-3 win over the New York Jets.

The scheme left quarterback Joe Flacco as thrilled as a 7-year-old forced to share his Christmas present with the neighbor kid.

“It’s good and fun for a little bit. But that’s about it,” Flacco said Sunday, per

Case Keenum Women’s Red Jersey Backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor took five snaps under center, carrying four times for seven yards and throwing an incomplete pass. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the team was experimenting with ways to get the dynamic Taylor on the field more.

Harbaugh Case Keenum Houston Texans Football Jersey wouldn’t say how much the Ravens would utilize the Wildcat in the future. If it were up to Flacco, it would be placed on the scrap heap.

“I don’t want to be lining up at Z and X (wide receiver spots),” Flacco said. “I want to line up behind center.”

The $120.6 million quarterback was so dispassionate with the scheme that when split out wide he barley moved on the snap and kept his hands in his warming pouch. (Maybe he’s just baiting the next opponent?)

It’s not a surprise that a Super Bowl MVP isn’t excited to watch someone else under center. Ben Roethlisberger was no more ecstatic when forced to split out wide for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

At the end of the day, however, Ravens coaches will do whatever they feel necessary to jumpstart the ground game, regardless of how excited it makes Flacco.

Roy Ellison suspended one game for use of profanity J.J.Watt Women’s Jersey

The Womens J.J.Watt Fotball Shirts NFL has suspended official Roy Ellison one game for his comments to Washington Redskinsoffensive tackle Trent Williams, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport first reported Friday.

The NFL quickly confirmed the news, saying that Ellison was suspended for a “profane and derogatory” statement to Williams.

Ellison reportedly had a previous instance of using abusive language on the field. Williams accused Ellison of calling him “a garbage (expletive) disrespectful mother (expletive).”

Ellison will be replaced on Walt Women’s Pink J.J.Watt Texans Jersey Coleman’s crew by Rich Hall, a member of Ed Hochuli’s crew, who is off this weekend, per Rapoport.

“NFL game officials are expected to avoid personal confrontations with players and be respectful of players and coaches at all times,” the NFL said in a statement. “The NFL-NFLRA Collective Bargaining Agreement states that ‘at no time will a Game Official engage in any conduct which adversely affects or reflects on the NFL or which results in the impairment of public confidence in the honest and orderly conduct of League games or the integrity or good character of its Game Officials.'”

According to the NFL’s senior vice president of communications, Greg Aiello, the last time an official was suspended due to an on-field incident was back in 1984, when Jack Fette got into hot water for conduct toward fans.

UPDATE: The NFL Referees Association sent out a statement Friday in which it denounced Ellison’s one-game suspension as a rush to judgment. The NFLRA plans to challenge the suspension with an immediate grievance.

J.J.Watt Women’s Red Jersey Rapoport reported on NFL Network’s “Around the League Primetime” that it’s unlikely Ellison will have his appeal heard before Sunday, according to a league source.

The deal includes a vesting option for the 2019 season that could push its overall value to $100 million, a source confirmed to It also contains a full no-trade clause.

McCann, who will turn 30 on Feb. 20, spent each of his first nine Major League seasons with the Braves, making seven All-Star teams and winning five Silver Slugger Awards.

In 102 games last season, he hit .256 with 20 home runs, 57 RBIs and a .796 OPS. McCann’s left-handed power stroke figures to fit nicely in Yankee Stadium, restoring some of the punch that the Yankees sorely lacked from their catchers this past season.

New York struggled to find offensive production from its catchers, giving extended playing time toChris Stewart, Francisco Cervelli and Austin Romine after declining to match the two-year, $17 million contract Russell Martin found with the Pirates.

With general manager Brian Houston Texans J.J.Watt Women’s White Limited NFL Jersey Cashman and manager Joe Girardi agreeing to try their defense-first catching alignment, the Yanks’ backstops produced an overall line of .213/.289/.298 with only eight home runs and 43 RBIs.

McCann projects to lean more toward the levels of power production that the Yankees received from Martin and, before him, fan favorite Jorge Posada. McCann has hit at least 20 homers in each of the last six seasons and owns a career split line of .277/.350/.473.

Cashman said during this month’s General Managers Meetings that he “absolutely” expected to tender Cervelli a contract offer, so it is likely that Cervelli and Romine will compete next spring to serve as McCann’s backup, with Stewart becoming more of a non-tender candidate.

The timing of the deal was somewhat of a surprise. McCann and his agent, B.B. Abbott, were not expected to make a decision until at least the Winter Meetings next month in Orlando, Fla., with the Rangers, Angels and Red Sox also considered to be in play for his services.

Instead,J.J.Watt Women’s Jersey ESPN New York reported that McCann visited with the Yankees on Tuesday, and that was enough to convince him to jump at an offer that represents the largest annual value contract ever given to a free-agent catcher at $17 million per year.

The Yankees’ signing of McCann is the first splash in what the club expects will be a busy offseason, reorganizing after New York was absent from postseason play for just the second time in the last 19 years.

Team president Randy Levine had said earlier in the week that Cashman was engaged with “five or six free agents,” a group that included McCann as well as second baseman Robinson Cano, who remains one of the Yankees’ top priorities.

Peyton Manning Denver Broncos Jersey Dealt to Angels for Bourjos, Freese gets ‘fresh start’

Shortly after news broke that the Angels traded Peter Bourjos to the Cardinals forDavid Freese, Albert Pujols shot a welcoming text message to the former teammate he would soon reunite with.

Denver Broncos Peyton Manning Football Jersey Freese’s response: Remember what we did last time we played with each other? Let’s go try to do that again.

What Freese and Pujols did was star on the Cardinals team that beat the Rangers — with Josh Hamilton and C.J. Wilson, no less — to win it all in 2011.

Freese was a World Series hero then, following an epic performance with a 2012 season in which he batted .293, hit 20 homers, drove in 79 runs and established himself as one of the best up-and-coming third basemen in baseball. Then his bat went south, his defense took a hit, and now he’ll look to bounce back on an Angels team that needs help at third base and has missed the playoffs four straight years.

“It was kind of a frustrating year,” Freese said, “but I learned a lot, and to be honest, I have a huge chip on my shoulder.”

On Friday morning, the Peyton Manning Bronco Jersey Angels and Cardinals finally consummated a deal they’ve been talking about all month; one in which both clubs essentially traded from positions of depth to shore up positions of need.

The Peyton Manning Tennessee Volunteers Jersey Cardinals got outfield depth by acquiring a center fielder in Bourjos and a prospect in Randal Grichuk, who was previously ranked fourth in the Angels’ system by and recently added to the 40-man roster. Now they can move Matt Carpenter to third base and create some room for rookie second baseman Kolten Wong.

The Angels addressed their uncertainty at third base, added an extra bullpen arm in 28-year-old right-hander Fernando Salas and cleared up their outfield, with Mike Trout (center field) and Hamilton (left field) sliding into positions they’re more comfortable with while opening up right field for the upstart Kole Calhoun.

In the deal, the Peyton Manning College Jersey Halos took on about an extra $4 million in salary commitments.

They’re hoping Freese can make that worth their while.

“David Freese has always hit,” Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto said. “What he does is provide you on-base ability, he provides you power. David has that right-center-field power swing that really suits our ballpark really well. The easiest way to describe what he does is he knows how to drive in the important runs. That’s something that really fits in our lineup, and obviously third base for us was a bit of a question mark as we head into the winter months and Spring Training. This provides what we think is a more-than-acceptable solution.”

Bourjos is already among the best defensive center fielders in baseball, can run with the best of them and still has plenty of upside at the plate — but the Angels ultimately saw him as their most expandable piece.

The 26-year-old had a promising 2011 season, batting .271 with 12 homers, 11 triples and 22 steals. But in 2012, he sat for most of the second half while Trout, Mark Trumbo and Torii Hunter made up the Angels’ outfield. And in 2013, injuries derailed Bourjos.

He batted .313 before missing six weeks with a strained left hamstring. Bourjos was plunked on the right wrist on June 29 and missed another month and a half. He returned in mid-August and wasn’t the same, batting .109 over a pain-stricken 15-game stretch. And on Sept. 7, he finally relented to season-ending surgery.

Bourjos has been in trade rumors incessantly for the last three years — it’s the price you pay for playing Trout’s position — and he figured this would be the winter he’d finally have a new home.

“I thought maybe that this was probably the best chance that I got traded, just because the last couple of years my name has been out there so much and it hadn’t happened,” Bourjos said on a conference call with Cardinals reporters. “With Peyton Manning University Football Uniform Calhoun coming up and playing extremely well andJ.B. Shuck and a lot of young outfielders playing extremely well, I figured there would be a pretty good chance I would get traded.”

Based on projections by, Bourjos is slated to make $1.1 million as a first-year arbitration-eligible player, while Freese and Salas project for $4.4 million and $700,000, respectively. Freese doesn’t hit free agency until after the 2015 season; Salas comes with three years of club control.

The Angels are still in desperate need of pitching — at least two starters and one reliever — and they have just over $10 million to spend before reaching the luxury-tax threshold of $189 million.

They’ve targeted relievers Joe Smith, J.P. Howell and Edward Mujica, have moved on to other free-agent starters after Jason Vargas signed with the Royals and are still willing to trade offense for cost-controlled starting pitching, with second baseman Howie Kendrick by far the most likely to be dealt.

But their in-house options at third base — Luis Jimenez, Chris Nelson, Andrew Romine andGrant Green — were almost as questionable as the names available in a thin free-agent class, and Bourjos alone was not valued enough to bring back quality pitching in a trade.

The Peyton Manning Denver Broncos Jersey Angels’ best bet to maximize Bourjos’ remaining value, they believed, was to take a chance on a reclamation of their own.

Freese suffered a back strain in Spring Training this past March, struggled mightily in April and never fully got right. His slash line dropped to .262/.340/.381, he hit only nine home runs, his defensive metrics dropped precipitously and he batted .179 (10-for-56) in a postseason stage he owned just two seasons ago.

Freese said he now feels “100 percent” and even started working out almost a month earlier than usual, eager to reclaim the promise he showed the last time he teamed with Pujols.

“You can call this a fresh start,” Freese said. “You just close the chapter and move on. Going out to Anaheim, joining that crew, it’s going to be exciting. I don’t see this as something I’m frustrated with, getting traded. I’m truly excited.”

Weiner, head of players union, dies at 51 J.J.Watt Jersey

J.J.Watt Camouflage Realtree Collection Football Jersey During one of his last public appearances as his health precipitously declined, Michael Weiner told a group of reporters how he viewed life during his battle with non-operable brain cancer.

“What I look for every day is beauty, meaning and joy. And if I can find beauty, meaning and joy, then that’s a good day,” the executive director of the Major League Baseball J.J.Watt Camo Jersey Players Association said in the hours leading up to the 2013 All-Star Game at Citi Field. “I’ll live each day for those things. And I’ll live each day looking for those things. Because I don’t know how much time I’ll have.”

With his family by his side at his home, Weiner lost his battle with glioblastoma on Thursday, the union said. He was 51. Wheelchair-bound and paralyzed on his right side because of the effects of the tumor, Weiner never lost hope. He underwent months of chemotherapy and radiation following his diagnosis in August 2012 and when those remedies were deemed unhelpful, he went on to an experimental regimen prescribed by his oncologists at New York’s Columbia University Medical Center that he said taxed his body and sapped his energy.

Nevertheless, Weiner worked on union issues until he was incapable of doing so, having a firm hand in MLB’s Biogenesis investigation involving performance-enhancing drug use, a prominent subject during the more-than-four-year tenure of Weiner and that before him of Don Fehr, now the executive director of the National Hockey League Players Association.

“All of Major League Baseball mourns the loss of Michael Weiner, a gentleman, a family man, and an extraordinarily talented professional who earned the trust of his membership and his peers throughout the national pastime,” Commissioner Bud Selig said in a statement. “Our strong professional relationship was built on a foundation of respect and a shared commitment to finding fair solutions for our industry. I appreciated Michael’s tireless, thoughtful leadership of the Players and his pivotal role in the prosperous state of Baseball today.”

The erudite Weiner openly spoke about his illness, appearing publicly at All-Star events and the next day at a golf tournament to provide relief for the victims of last year’s Superstorm Sandy that devastated the East Coast.

Houston Texans J.J.Watt Military NFL Jersey Michael was a courageous human being, and the final year of his remarkable life inspired so many people in our profession,” Selig said. “On behalf of Major League Baseball and our 30 Clubs, I extend my deepest condolences to Michael’s wife Diane, their three daughters, his colleagues at the MLBPA and his many friends and admirers throughout the game he served with excellence.”

As news spread of Weiner’s death, club executives offered their condolences.

“I was terribly saddened to hear today of Michael’s death, and my condolences go out to his family, friends, co-workers and all of the members of the MLBPA, who he so ably represented during his tenure,” White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said. “Michael’s intellect and talent were unmatched. Driven by his dedication and commitment to the Players Association and to Baseball, Michael accomplished a great deal as executive director, both for the good of the players and the good of the game.”

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Michael Weiner, with whom I had the pleasure of working for many years,” Dodgers president Stan Kasten said. “I had so much respect for him and admired his leadership of the players and Players Association. He was truly a great individual, a brilliant lawyer and a thoroughly decent person. All of baseball, labor and management, has suffered a great loss. Michael was always viewed as the path to a reasonable resolution. He will be missed. The Dodgers and I send our deepest condolences to Michael’s family.”

Weiner practiced the advice he gave others suffering through debilitating diseases.

“It’s corny, but it works. Stay J.J.Watt Jersey positive,” he said in March 2013 as he concluded the union’s exhaustive schedule of visiting with all 30 clubs during Spring Training. “I tell everybody this: I don’t fear whatever is going to happen to me. Medically, I’m either going to have good results or I’m going to have bad results. And once you don’t have fear of that, you can go on living life to the fullest. If you’re afraid every time you turn around the corner, it’s pretty hard to enjoy life. So I tell people, ‘Try to get over whatever fear you have. Do what you have to do medically and do what you can to fight it. And then go on and enjoy life the best you can.'”

Weiner Women’s Pink J.J.Watt Camo Jersey as elected the union’s fifth executive director on Oct. 2, 2009, replacing Fehr, who gave notice earlier that year of his intention to retire in March 2010. When the players voted to approve Weiner’s rise to the post, they did so by a margin of 1,055-4. The players embraced Weiner and marveled at his courage and posture as he battled a type of tumor that is 99-percent fatal.

“My wife Stephanie and I are enormously saddened to learn of Mike Weiner’s passing today, and our thoughts go out to Diane and their three daughters,” Fehr said. “Mike was an extraordinary individual in so many ways: as a loving husband and father, as an exceptional union leader and lawyer, and as a great friend to so many. He was an indispensable part of the MLBPA staff for more than two decades, and was the right man to lead the union.

“This is a great loss, for his family, for his friends, for the players, and for everyone who crossed his path.”

Weiner, a 1986 graduate of Harvard Law School, had been with the Players Association since 1988. He originally was the staff counsel, with the primary responsibility of administering and enforcing the Basic Agreement. Named general counsel in 2004, he was placed in charge of all legal matters involving the association.

Weiner, Fehr, chief operating officer Gene Orza and Steve Fehr, Don’s brother, had formed the backbone of the union for years, following Marvin Miller’s longtime tenure as union leader, as the the players and owners fought through three work stoppages and the average salary for players rose from $289,000 in 1983 to more than $3.3 million.

There has been relative labor peace since 1995, though that group is now all gone. Orza is retired and Steve Fehr followed his brother to the NHLPA.

Orza issued the following statement:

“Right now, tears are everywhere at the loss of Michael. In many cases, they are shed by those who only knew him in passing or on the margins, but still could sense how special he must be, and how unfair it is that he be taken this young. And they are right. He was special, and it is unfair. For those of us who worked alongside him in the offices of the Players Association, there is nothing less than a hole in our hearts right now. We all loved him so very much.

“We and Michael shared our lives together. And throughout he was ever kind and understanding, never impatient or disrespectful, constant in his friendship, concerned beyond compare, and always, always, brilliant, like a diamond or a star. Yes, he was nothing short of a star in our lives. He shines elsewhere tonight, but to those of us who really knew him we are grateful he once shone upon us.”

As the previous J.J.Watt Texans Football Shirts for Sale Basic Agreement was approaching its expiration in December 2011, Weiner led the union into an intricate line-by-line review and rewriting of the document, which took a good part of that year. The Joint Drug Agreement, which was implemented in 2002, has been reopened, reviewed and adjusted a number of times under Weiner’s auspices. The Basic Agreement signed that year runs through 2016, ensuring at least 21 consecutive years of labor peace.

There is a yearly review of the program and Weiner had said that the current PED penalties for an analytical positive test — a 50-game loss of salary and suspension for the first offense, 100-game salary loss and suspension for a second offense, and a lifetime suspension for a third — were open to revision.

Weiner, born in Paterson, N.J., earned his undergraduate degree in political economy from Williams College in 1983, and after graduating from Harvard Law School three years later, spent 1986-88 as a clerk for a federal judge in Newark, N.J.

Peyton Manning Denver Broncos Jersey Cardinals extend Matheny’s contract through 2017

Citing the on-field success manager Mike Denver Broncos Peyton Manning Football Jersey Matheny has helped provide the Cardinals in his two seasons and the continuity he has brought the team since his playing days, the Cardinals announced on Wednesday that they have signed him to a three-year contract extension.

With Matheny already under contract for next season, this new deal keeps him in a Cardinals uniform through 2017.

“I’ve always taken the position that the best way to operate a franchise and maintain continuity is to maintain the core personnel responsible for our success,” Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. said at a news conference at Busch Stadium. “Whether it’s on-field, front office, elsewhere, we’ve tried to do that through the years and this is another example of that.”

Matheny was joined at the dais by Peyton Manning Bronco Jersey DeWitt and general manager John Mozeliak, who also announced Wednesday that veteran Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter is retiring. The right-hander has pitched just three times in the last two years because of injuries, but Mozeliak said Wednesday that the team hopes Carpenter will remain with the franchise in some capacity.

Five of Matheny’s 13 big league seasons came in St. Louis, where he won three of his four Gold Gloves. When Tony La Russa retired following the 2011 season, Matheny took over and led the Cardinals to the National League Championship Series in his first year.

“You come in and try to do your job and want to try to represent the organization as a whole the best you can,” Matheny said. “Fortunately, we’ve had a group of guys who’ve played extremely well in the two years I’ve been here. … I just can’t imagine doing anything that I enjoy more than what I’m doing right now.”

In his second season, Matheny Peyton Manning Tennessee Volunteers Jersey helped lead the Cardinals to the 2013 World Series, where they fell to the Red Sox in six games. Considering the success in such a short period of time and the smooth transition, Mozeliak said he was eager to take care of the extension sooner rather than later.

“I just didn’t want this to get into late Spring Training and being asked about it all the time,” Mozeliak said. “I just think it would have ended up being a distraction. Our hope was trying to resolve this quickly, feeling he was deserving of this.”

The 43-year-old Matheny, who finished fifth in the 2012 NL Manager of the Year voting and fourth this season, has a career managerial record of 185-139.

“The opportunity that I’ve been given is sometimes hard for me to get my head around,”Peyton Manning College Jersey said. “I’m very grateful and I think that’s an extreme understatement.”

“We looked at it quite a bit,” general manager Jon Daniels said. “If he was coming off the best year of his career, then he would not be available. I think that’s kind of the whole idea of this deal. If anyone feels like that’s a sign of things to come, that he’s slipping, you may not like the deal. We don’t feel that way. Based on what we got from our scouts, and some of the analysis we did, we think there’s a lot more to come. We’re excited what we’re going to get from this guy in the future.”

The move opens up a spot for Jurickson Profar, who is now the leading candidate to be the Rangers’ starting second baseman, alongside Elvis Andrus at shortstop. But Daniels said the spot won’t be just handed to Profar. The Rangers have two highly regarded middle-infield prospects inLuis Sardinas and Rougned Odor, both of whom finished last season at Double-A Frisco.

Profar played in 85 games for the Rangers this past season and hit .234 with 30 runs scored, 11 doubles, six home runs and 26 RBIs in 324 plate appearances. He played 32 games at second base, 18 at shortstop, 10 at third base and four in left field. Now, he has a chance to be locked into one spot.

“He’s a guy we like,” Daniels said of Profar. “We certainly like his potential and what he brings to the table. He’s a guy we’d like to see claim the job, but he’s got to earn it. We may bring in some competition to push him, and there are some guys behind him that may push him. We certainly think he’s capable, but he has to earn the job.”

Fielder Peyton Manning University Football Uniform will be the Rangers’ starting first baseman, taking a spot that Mitch Moreland has held for the past three seasons. Moreland could serve as a backup first baseman while getting time at designated hitter and the outfield. But the Rangers are still looking for more offense, most likely in left field, although they have shown interest in free-agent slugger Brian McCann as a backup catcher and designated hitter. Moreland played in 147 games for the Rangers this past season and hit .232 with 23 home runs, 60 RBIs and a .437 slugging percentage.

“Some of it is yet to be determined based on the rest of the winter,” Daniels said. “Mitch is certainly in our plans. An offensive addition at some position is of some value. We went into the offseason looking for two bats, and that’s still the plan.”

The Peyton Manning Denver Broncos Jersey Rangers also have to decide what to do about the leadoff spot after trading away a three-time All-Star who was a huge part of the club’s rise to back-to-back World Series appearances in 2010 and ’11. Kinsler hit .277 with 85 runs scored, 31 doubles, 13 home runs, 72 RBIs, 15 stolen bases, a .344 OBP and a .413 slugging percentage this past season. He was also the senior member of the Rangers.

“This is obviously a very exciting trade for us, adding Prince Fielder to our organization, but also a tough trade,” Daniels said. “Ian Kinsler has been in our organization since we drafted him in 2003. He was a catalyst for us on our World Series team, a heart-and-soul guy. Detroit is getting a tremendous player and person.”

Daniels said the trade gives the Rangers some direction regarding how their offseason will progress, especially since the deal clears up what will happen in the middle of the infield.

“We came into the offseason with depth in the middle of the diamond and a need at the corners,” Daniels said. “We’ve balanced that out. We’re not done, but we’ve chosen our path both financially and on the field.

Mets meet with agents for free agent Cano J.J.Watt Women’s Jersey

The dinner took place Monday night in Manhattan. At a posh hotel, Mets owner Jeff Wilpon, general manager Sandy Alderson and assistant GM John Ricco sat down with representatives for free-agent second baseman Robinson Cano, including the rapper Jay-Z.

Essentially, Alderson said, he was just being polite.

Though the Womens J.J.Watt Fotball Shirts Mets — like any team — have plenty of interest in signing the five-time All-Star second baseman, they agreed to the meeting understanding that Cano is almost certainly well beyond their free-agent price range. The Mets simply did not want to refuse a meeting with Jay-Z, a novice agent, and his partners.

“I had said last week that I didn’t foresee contracts in the $100 million range for the Mets this offseason,” Alderson said. “I think that statement still pertains. On the other hand, we are committed to improving the team, and we will explore whatever possibilities arise — however remote the eventual outcome.”

Women’s Pink J.J.Watt Texans Jersey Consider this one remote. Monday’s meeting took place less than a week after Alderson said he would “probably not” sign any players to nine-figure contracts this winter, and a month after Dodgers ownership partner Magic Johnson said his own team had little interest in Cano, who is seeking a deal worth more than $300 million. For those reasons, Alderson presumed the meeting was designed to generate industry-wide interest for Cano — which is why the GM was not surprised when the New York Post leaked details of the dinner “within minutes of dessert.”

“It was a well-prepared presentation designed to sell us and presumably other teams on Cano’s value,” Alderson said, adding that Jay-Z actively took part in the conversation alongside two of his partners from the Creative Artists Agency, Brodie Van Wagenen and Juan Perez. “We certainly have a high regard for Robinson J.J.Watt Women’s Red Jersey Cano as a player. So in that sense, the presentation was a little bit overdone.

“I think you have to go into these situations with the understanding that, at some point, they will become public. But at the same time, we felt it would be useful enough for us to meet Jay-Z and Brodie, whether it’s in connection with Robinson Cano or some future client that they may have. So I’m not surprised it became public. And that certainly factored into our decision to have the meeting, but didn’t deter us.”

Cano, whose initial asking price from the Yankees clocked in at 10 years and $310 million, is a sure bet to sign the richest contract of any free agent this winter — well beyond the range of what Alderson is willing to offer. Over his first three offseasons as Mets Houston Texans J.J.Watt Women’s White Limited NFL Jersey GM, Alderson has not given out a free-agent contract larger than Frank Francisco’s recently-expired two-year, $12 million pact.

Cano, 31, hit .314 with 27 home runs this season for the Yankees, his fifth consecutive year with at least a .300 batting average and 25 homers. He recently signed on with Jay-Z’s new Roc Nation sports agency, which is partnered with CAA.

“It was a very preliminary meeting,” Alderson said. “They’re having, or hope to have, preliminary meetings with a number of different teams.”

The Mets J.J.Watt Women’s Jersey GM added that the two sides never discussed financial figures at the dinner, stressing the unlikelihood of a match despite not ruling out future meetings. Piggybacking off that sentiment, Yankees president Randy Levine said Tuesday that the Mets’ meeting with Cano has “zero impact” on his team’s attempts to re-sign its star infielder.

“We understand the process,” Levine said. “[Cano] and Jay-Z and Brodie are well within their purview to try and create a market and do whatever they can. That kind of stuff has zero impact on us. We know what we’re prepared to do, and whatever anybody else does really is irrelevant.”

Daniel Murphy, the Mets’ incumbent second baseman, hit .286 with 13 home runs this season. Murphy is arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter, and he should receive a contract of around $5 million.

Giants Customized Houston Texans Jersey add veteran Hudson to rotation

Reflecting their efforts to strengthen their starting rotation, the Custom Texans Jersey Giants announced that they agreed to terms Monday with right-hander Tim Hudson on a two-year contract.

The 38-year-old Hudson wasn’t the most highly sought-after pitcher in free agency. That distinction belongs to Matt Garza, Ubaldo Jimenez or Ervin Santana. But Hudson remains one of the Major Leagues’ most successful performers. With a 205-111 record in 15 seasons, he ranks first in victories and third in winning percentage (.649) among active starters since he reached the bigs in 1999 with the Oakland A’s.

Though terms of the deal weren’t released, the Customized Houston Texans Jersey Cheap San Francisco Chronicle reported that the sides settled on a contract worth $23 million — an $11.5 million average annual value that exceeded what the Atlanta Braves, Hudson’s employers for nine years, were willing to pay. ESPN’s Buster Olney reported that Hudson also sought a full no-trade clause. Giants officials declined to comment until Tuesday, when a conference call featuring Hudson was expected to be scheduled.

The Personalized Texans Jersey thus concluded their third major agreement involving a potential or full-fledged free agent, demonstrating general manager Brian Sabean’s penchant for acting quickly to fill the club’s needs. Right fielder Hunter Pence agreed to a five-year, $90 million contract on the eve of the regular season’s conclusion. Right-hander Tim Lincecum received a two-year, $35 million deal before he could negotiate with other teams.

Now comes Hudson, a three-time All-Star who has finished among the top six in Cy Young Award voting four times. He ideally will complement three other All-Stars in the Giants’ existing rotation:Madison Bumgarner, Matt Cain and Lincecum.

Despite Houston Texans Personalized NFL Football Jersey their talent, Giants starters finished last season with a 4.37 ERA, the National League’s third highest. Club management believes that Hudson, whose career 3.44 ERA is the Majors’ eighth best during his Major League tenure, can help stabilize the contingent that led San Francisco to World Series triumphs in 2010 and ’12.

Hudson finished 8-7 with a 3.97 ERA in 21 starts last season for Atlanta. He struggled early, recording a 5.37 ERA in his first 10 starts before recovering to post a 2.73 ERA in his final 11 outings.

Hudson’s year ended prematurely on July 24, when he covered first base and the Customized Nike Texans Football Jersey Shirt Mets’ Eric Youngstepped on his right ankle, causing a horrific fracture. Hudson had a surgical screw removed from his ankle nearly two weeks ago, and he is expected to resume running by the end of the month.

Despite Customized Houston Texans Jersey Hudson’s injury and age, the fact that he didn’t hurt his arm allays apprehension regarding his effectiveness. But the Giants will monitor his recovery closely, since he uses his right foot to push off the pitching rubber and impart force upon his deliveries.

The agreement represents a return to the Bay Custom Texans Jersey for Womens Area for Hudson, who posted a 92-39 mark with the A’s in his first six Major League seasons. His lone 20-win season was 2000, his first full year in the big leagues, though he has won 15 or more games eight times, most recently in 2012 (16-7). In eight career starts at San Francisco’s AT&T Park, Hudson is 3-3 with a 3.81 ERA.

The Giants’ offseason shopping is incomplete. They want to deepen their starting rotation and still hope to re-sign right-hander Ryan Vogelsong, who became a free agent when the club declined the $6.5 million option on his 2014 contract. Retaining left-handed reliever Javier Lopez, who has attracted ample interest as a free agent, remains a top priority. San Francisco also must add a proven hitter either to play left field or prompt position switches to add offensive potential to that spot.

Hot Braves Jersey Stove roundup: Infield depth gives Texas options

When a team is looking to improve on one facet of its club, it helps when it has a surplus in another area. Read ahead in today’s Hot Stove roundup to find out which club is in such a situation, and plenty of other news:Atlanta Braves Baseball Jersey

• With Jurickson Profar, Elvis Andrus and Ian Kinsler, the Rangers have a wealth of infield depth. The Dallas Morning News’ Evan Grant reports the Rangers could very well trade one of those players (with some top prospects also working their way into the picture) to fill other needs.

“We have three guys at the Major League level and two guys at Double-A [Rougned Atlanta Braves MLB Merchandise Odor and Luis Sardinas]; it would be irresponsible not to consider it,” general manager Jon Daniels told Grant. “Will we ultimately make a deal? I really don’t know. Teams are getting the lay of the land, see what’s out there and make a decision.”

• The Blue Jays are looking to add starting pitching talent. But would they be willing to part ways withJose Bautista in order to get it? The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo says it’s a possibility.

Cafardo Jason Heyward Jersey also notes there’s a “growing sentiment” that the Padres will deal third baseman Chase Headley this winter.

• It’s no secret the Tigers need a closer, and Joe Nathan and Brian Wilson are two names that have been closely linked to Detroit. It was reported earlier this week that there has been mutual interest between the Tigers and Nathan, but Buster Olney tweeted that the Tigers may prefer Wilson because of salary.

• Right-hander Jeff Samardzija has the potential to be a building block for the Cubs moving forward, and David Kaplan is reporting that the Cubs have reached out to him about a contract extension. Samardzija, who will become a free agent after the 2015 season and turns 29 in January, had a 4.34 ERA last year and logged a career-high 213 2/3 innings.

• Because of the unique structure of Bryce Jason Heyward Jersey Sale Harper’s contract and some unresolved issues, the Washington Post’s Adam Kilgore reports that Harper and the Nationals could be looking at a grievance hearing next winter.

Left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez, ranked No. 84 on’s Top 100 prospect list, set the tone for Surprise. The Orioles’ No. 2 prospect threw three scoreless innings. He struck out four batters and allowed two hits. Following Rodriguez, five Saguaros relievers combined for six scoreless innings.

Mesa’s best chance came in the sixth inning when it loaded the bases with one out against Berry, the Orioles’ No. 6 prospect. Kris Bryant, who had been awarded the AFL MVP award before the championship game, came to the plate. He got ahead in the count 2-0, but after a visit from catcher Jorge Alfaro and pitching coach Steve Karsay, Berry escaped the jam.

Majestic Jason Heyward Authentic Home White Cool Base MLB Baseball Jersey Berry busted Bryant, the Cubs’ No. 4 prospect, with an inside fastball and got him to pop out in foul ground to first baseman Travis Shaw. He then struck out C.J. Cron, the Angels’ No. 2 prospect and AFL batting champion.

“It was such a bad start to the inning and such a big finish to the inning,” Berry said. “I was just glad to get out of there with no runs on the board and give it to Noe [Ramirez] and they took it from there.”

Ramirez, Keone Kela and David Goforth finished the game without further drama. The bases-loaded situation in the sixth inning was the only time all game the Solar Sox advanced a runner to third base.

Bryant went 0-for-4 Saturday and came away impressed with the Saguaros’ pitching.

“Their pitching was incredible,” Bryant said. “Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the other team. They came through when they needed to.”

Surprise Braves Jersey scored its first run with two outs in the second inning. Henry Urrutia hit a line drive over Souza’s head in center field and cruised into second with a double. Alfaro followed with an RBI single.

The Saguaros added an insurance run in the eighth inning. Jonathan Schoop, the Atlanta Braves Apparel Orioles’ No. 4 prospect, led off the inning with a single and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. Mookie Betts, the Red Sox No. 16 prospect, drove him in with a single.

Urrutia was the only Saguaro with multiple hits. He finished the game 2-for-3 with two doubles.
