Leury Garcia back in White Sox lineup Braxton Miller Texans Football Jersey

SEATTLE — Center fielder Leury Garcia was back in the White Sox lineup and batting leadoff Sunday, two days after Braxton Miller Jersey getting hit on the elbow by a pitch from the Mariners’ Sam Gaviglio.

He had been day to day in the meantime, expressing confidence that he could probably return if needed, but the White Sox brought him back with caution, using him as a late-game substitution. A batting-practice session Friday was probably the final indication that he was ready.

“During BP yesterday, he was sharing with us that he thought he DeAndre Hopkins Jersey was back to 100 percent,” White Sox manager Rick Renteria said before Sunday’s series finale. “A little sore. Just giving him the day yesterday was good enough to alleviate a little more, and obviously, we have him back in there today.”

Garcia C.J.Fiedorowicz Jersey was hitting .298 when the sore elbow kept him out of the starting lineup. Bringing him back meant rookie Willy Garcia returned to the bench after two days of subbing in for his surname-sharing teammate.

It was an eventful two days for Willy Garcia, who went 2-for-6 in his two starts, including a three-run blast Saturday in a 16-1 victory over the Mariners — his first Major League homer.

“I think he’s been looking and feeling pretty confident since he got Alfred Blue Jersey here,” Renteria said. “Obviously, that was his first homer as a big leaguer, so that’s pretty exciting for everybody. But I think he is feeling and looking very comfortable at the plate and in the field.”

Garcia even got a taste of a newish MLB ritual — the silent treatment after returning to the dugout after his milestone homer.

“I think that’s something that’s kind of evolved over the years,” Renteria said. “But he gets it. He appreciates the guys.”

Garcia entered Sunday hitting .242 (8-for-33) in 12 games since joining the big league club April 14.

DeAndre Hopkins Jersey Survivor story: Lester inspiration to cancer patients

Men’s Nike Houston Texans 10 DeAndre Hopkins Elite White Jersey.

When Jon Lester takes the mound against the Cardinals in Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday (airing at 7:30 ET on FOX/8:07 first pitch) at Fenway Park, not only will he be standing up for the Red Sox, but he’ll be standing up for cancer survivors and patients everywhere.

“To be honest with you, I hadn’t really thought of it in that way, but I’m glad you brought it up,” said DeAndre Hopkins Texans Jersey Lester, who will face St. Louis right-hander Adam Wainwright.

“Yeah, if that story gets out tomorrow and that helps somebody in a hospital room or somebody who is struggling with their treatment, great. That’s what we try to do in our foundation as well: Spread the word of cancer awareness. It’s a big honor to take that stage with that next to my name. And like I said, hopefully I can help somebody a little bit who is struggling with it.”

Consider that story out and retold.

During his rookie season of 2006, the left-hander was diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma, a rare form of blood cancer. A little more than a year later, Lester was a late replacement starter for an injured Tim Wakefield in Game 4 of the World Series at Coors Field and won, pitching into the sixth inning as the Red Sox swept the Rockies. The performance substantiated his character.

DeAndre Hopkins Jersey Sale.

“Jonny Lester is just the epitome of a fighter, of a bulldog,” teammate Jake Peavy said. “He’s our No. 1. He’s a horse. He’s our guy.”

Lester’s was an incredible journey from sudden sickness to sudden redemption.

After months of treatment and a full recovery, Lester began the 2007 regular season in the Minors to rebuild stamina and arm strength. He made 12 appearances and 11 starts, going 4-0 with a 4.57 ERA in 63 innings. Prior to the World Series, Lester made two relief appearances in the American League Championship Series against the Indians as the Red Sox rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win the pennant.

Against the Rockies, the now 29-year-old Lester allowed three hits, walked three, struck out three and left with two out in the sixth and the Red Sox leading, 1-0. They never trailed and wound up winning, 4-3. He had come full circle.

“For so many of us, it was a great experience winning the World Series,” said John Farrell, who was the Red Sox’s pitching coach at the time and is now serving as the club’s manager. “But in Jon’s case, to be on the mound in the clinching game of a World Series environment, I mean, that’s the stuff that stories and movies are made of.

“There’s no question he hasn’t forgotten the journey he’s traveled. And I think he serves as a living example to many who don’t take the field, but share in a similar journey as he has.”

To that end, Lester’s “Never Quit” foundation has a dual purpose of supporting kids in their individual battles against cancer and raises money for research. Those funds support the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (www.nvrqt.org). Lester is its chief spokesman and is not afraid to tell those children about his own voyage.

“As I travel the country for away games, I meet kids fighting cancer in almost every city,”DeAndre Hopkins Jersey Lester told CNN.com this past summer. “They visit the ballpark, and I invite them onto the field so we can chat and then watch the game. I hope the little things I’m doing really make a difference to the kids in the battle today and the big fundraising events we’re holding will minimize or cure pediatric cancer for the kids tomorrow.”

Lester has fully recovered from cancer, having passed the magic five-year mark in 2011. His own struggle now to regain form is more mechanical than it is physical. Four consecutive seasons of 15 wins or better abruptly ended in 2012 when he slumped to 9-14 and a rare 4.82 ERA. Upon Farrell’s return as manager this spring, Lester’s ERA dropped more than a full run to 3.75 and his record rebounded to 15-8.

Lester has had his ebbs and flows this season, but back on the mound in the World Series, he said he’s a stronger, better person than he was on Oct. 28, 2007.

Houston Texans DeAndre Hopkins NFL Football Uniform.

“These are different circumstances, this time,” Lester said. “Last time, I was kind of thrown into that position. I wasn’t expected to get a start and fortunately got that opportunity. I remember the nerves. I remember the anxiety of just getting to the field and calm down a little bit. It was a different point in my career, too.

“Obviously, tomorrow there will still be nerves. That’s to be expected, but I think I know a little bit more about who I am as a pitcher. I know what to expect from myself and what to expect of the crowd. We talk about every start is a learning experience. Hopefully I can go back to that one and draw something that will help me tomorrow.”

No matter, not only will he be holding the hopes of Red Sox nation on his stout shoulders, but he’ll toe the rubber as an example that life goes on in many ways after surviving a whirl with cancer.

DeAndre Hopkins Jersey Dominant in postseason, Lester draws Game 1 start

Jon DeAndre Hopkins Texans Jersey Lester has pitched every type of Game 1 in his career except one — the opener of a World Series.

Men’s Nike Houston Texans 10 DeAndre Hopkins Elite White Jersey.

The lefty — the man the Red Sox consider their ace — will draw that honor on Wednesday night (7:30 ET air time on FOX/8:07 first pitch) in Game 1 against Adam Wainwrightand the Cardinals at Fenway Park.

Lester had a dominant second half and it has carried into the postseason. In three starts this October, Lester is 2-1 with a 2.29 ERA. His only loss was a 1-0 defeat to the Tigers’ Anibal Sanchez in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.

Red Sox manager John Farrell was Lester’s pitching coach the last time Boston made the World Series, in 2007.

In the clinching Game 4 of the ’07 Fall Classic at Colorado, Lester earned the win. But he’s evolved into an upper-echelon pitcher in the ensuing six years.

“He knows himself better,” Farrell said. “He knows what his checkpoints are. He knows where his strengths lie. And I think more importantly, he can trust himself. What I mean by that is that in his first couple of years in his big league career, he was so locked in on trying to figure out what the opposition was doing and going in to attack that.

“In other words, what was their game plan against him? Which you didn’t know. You had no way of knowing until you set the approach that you were going to execute against them first. So he’s trusting in his abilities and establishing himself on the mound initially and then responding to how they adjust to him. He’s very much a concrete thinker and I think he’s become much more at ease with himself to know, ‘Not everything is in my control, and yet I trust my abilities to perform well.'”

The Red Sox will set the rest of their rotation Tuesday. Either John Lackey or Clay Buchholz is most likely to start Game 2, with the other one getting the nod in Game 3 at St. Louis. Jake Peavy is all but certain to start Game 4.

DeAndre Hopkins Jersey Sale.

“I pitched against the Cardinals last year — a lot of the same guys were in the lineup,” said Peavy. “If you go back and watch that tape and watch what they do, when you watch them live and get a feel for what’s going on and their personality, the Cardinals are a great bunch.”

It was an obstacle the Red Sox overcame in 2004 and ’07, but one they still don’t look forward to.

When the World Series shifts to St. Louis for Games 3, 4 and 5 (if necessary), Boston loses the designated hitter.

That means David Ortiz will have to dust off his glove and play first base, which he did six times during the regular season. And it also means that Mike Napoli — who hit two big home runs in the American League Championship Series — will be on the bench in the games that Ortiz starts at first.

And assuming Napoli gets one start in St. Louis, Ortiz will be out of the lineup for that game.

Conversely, the Cardinals get an extra hitter in their lineup for the games at Fenway.

“Well with David going to first base, which he will when we get over to St. Louis, how many days he’ll play in those three games there remains to be seen,” said DeAndre Hopkins Jersey Red Sox manager John Farrell. “It is different for us. Personally, when we go into National League ballparks, I think we’re in a greater disadvantage than the reverse of that when National League teams come in here.”

DeAndre Hopkins Shirts.

Daniel Nava hit .303 with a .385 on-base percentage during the regular season. He was the only Red Sox player to get a hit in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. Yet he was on the bench for four of the next five games.

It looks like that trend will continue in Game 1 of the World Series against the Cardinals on Wednesday.

“We haven’t made out Wednesday’s lineup yet, but can’t go away from maybe a little bit of momentum that a certain lineup has provided for us,” hinted manager John Farrell.

The “momentum lineup” is one that has included Jonny Gomes in left field, even against right-handers (Gomes spent most of the season on the other side of the platoon), and Xander Bogaerts at third base ahead of Will Middlebrooks.

Gomes has five hits and two walks in 25 postseason at-bats while Nava has three hits and three walks in just 11 at-bats, though Farrell has cited the “intangibles” that Gomes has been bringing to the lineup. Gomes is second on the team in runs (six) to leadoff hitter Jacoby Ellsbury (10).

Nava had no hard feelings when asked about his role.

“Skip came up to me and said, ‘Hey, man, just wanted to let you know I’ve still got you, yada yada,’ and I said, ‘If you want to put [Gomes] in there, that’s great. If you want to put me in there, that’s great.’ We just want to win the World Series,” Nava said. “We’ve gotten to this point. Whatever combination he wants to put out there that gets us four more wins, I don’t think any of us will complain.

“You don’t play 162 games to all of a sudden get selfish in the playoffs. You play 162 games to be selfless in the playoffs so we can go out there and win. I know everyone says it, but if we were looking at it any other way, we’d have problems, we wouldn’t be in this spot. We’d be bickering and fighting. As you’ve seen, that’s the last thing that goes on in this clubhouse.”

Houston Texans DeAndre Hopkins NFL Football Uniform.

Nava compared the situation to choosing flavors of ice cream.

“I don’t think it’s a bad thing,” he said. “If anything, it’s a problem that’s good to have. It’s like when you’re looking at ice cream — what’s your favorite ice cream? I’ve got two flavors. Is it bad I love both these flavors this much? Now, we are not ice cream, but the same thing — neither of them are bad. Jonny, if they put me in, either way, we’ve got a good chance to help the team win.”

Gomes, who was 3-for-16 with seven strikeouts in the ALCS, said he and Nava still talk often and their relationship hasn’t been tarnished.

“It’s not really about us, him and I,” Gomes said. “It’s not about playing time between he and I … You don’t compete with someone wearing the same uniform as you. If I was to waste energy hoping my platoon mate would fail so I would get in, that’s just negative energy and it doesn’t work. If he shines, we win. If I’m fortunate to shine, we win.

“It’s our left field. It’s not what name or what guy is out there. It’s our left field.”

A day after the Red Sox eliminated the Tigers in the American League Championship Series, Red Sox manager John Farrell thought enough of Jim Leyland to send him a heart-felt text.

“I had sent him a text [Sunday] morning just to congratulate him and the organization on not only a great team, but a great year,” said Farrell. “And I expressed the respect that we have for him and certainly for all the success he’s had in his career.”

By Monday, Leyland announced he was stepping down as Tigers manager.

“And then to see the announcement today, to listen to him and know that early September this was very clear in his mind, that’s surprising,” Farrell said. “My gosh, when you take a step back and you see someone who’s managed for what, 22 years, it’s a hell of a career and I’m sure one he’s extremely proud of.”

DeAndre Hopkins Jersey Leyland stepping down after eight years with Tigers

Jim Leyland is stepping down as manager of the Tigers, and he will announce his decision today at a news conference scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET at Comerica Park.

Men’s Nike Houston Texans 10 DeAndre Hopkins Elite White Jersey.

Leyland, 68, managed the Tigers for eight season, winning the American League Central in each of the past three seasons and the AL pennant last year and in 2006. He has managed in the Major Leagues for 22 seasons and has won one World Series, in 1997 with the Marlins.

Detroit reached the American League Championship Series in each of the past three seasons, sweeping the Yankees last year and losing to the Rangers in 2011 and to the Red Sox this year. The Tigers were eliminated from the postseason on Saturday, dropping the ALCS four games to two.

DeAndre Hopkins Texans Jersey Leyland reportedly told the Tigers players after the series ended that it was time for someone younger to manage the team. Team president and general manager Dave Dombrowski had said it was “not the time” to discuss Leyland’s future immediately following Game 6.

In eight seasons under Leyland, the Tigers went 700-597 (.541) in the regular season under Leyland.

While there are still questions about how sharp Craig’s timing will be after a seven-week break from game play, the Cardinals are convinced that he makes their offense more formidable even if the layoff leaves him slightly limited.

“The thing is for him, he is such a prolific hitter, it’s definitely worth the chance,” Mozeliak said. “We’re trying to get him as much live pitching as we can, but to simulate Game 1 of a World Series is virtually impossible. We’ll do the best we can.”

With Craig, the Cardinals will have a legitimate designated hitter option for the first two games in Boston. It’s an ideal fit for Craig, who has not resumed participating in defensive work. When the series shifts back to Busch Stadium next weekend, Craig will, in the least, be available off a bench that had been weakened by his absence.

And he might actually do even more. The Cardinals are not yet willing to rule out the possibility of Craig being cleared to play first base later in the World Series.

“When he would need to play the field is a week away, so you just don’t know,” Mozeliak said. “I think where we’re at with him is we feel good. There’s a chance he could help contribute.”

Craig was on his way to challenging for the National DeAndre Hopkins Jersey League’s RBI title and possibly a top finish in the NL MVP Award voting before an awkward turn at first base prematurely ended his regular season. As it was, Craig still finished the year leading the Cardinals with 97 RBIs and a .454 batting average with runners in scoring position. Overall, he hit .315.

Craig opened the season as the team’s cleanup hitter and remained in that spot in the lineup for most of the year. While Matt Adams has done well as Craig’s fill-in, there was never going to be an adequate way to replace the team’s leading run-producer. It was just a matter of playing long enough to get Craig back.

“I mean, it’s huge,” catcher Yadier Molina said of Craig’s impending return. “The bat that he brings the lineup, it could be the difference. I’m happy to have him back. Hopefully he’ll help us to win.”

Houston Texans DeAndre Hopkins NFL Football Uniform.

Though the Cardinals’ offense came to life in the NL Championship Series clincher, it has been looking for a spark for most of the month. The unit has hit .210 through 11 October games; Carlos Beltran is the only player to accrue more than five RBIs. With Craig missing in the middle, manager Mike Matheny has not had the luxury of employing a static lineup, either.

Now, it simply becomes a question of whether Craig can again be immediately effective. The layoff is bound to be a factor; how much of one remains the lone unknown.

“Obviously, games start on Wednesday, so I’m focused on getting myself ready mentally to take at-bats,” Craig said. “The most important thing for me is just to focus on competing. I’m really focusing on that more than how I feel.”

“There are no nerves about anything, it’s just timing,” hitting coach John Mabry said. “When he gets his timing back … and obviously being thrown in that situation of that magnitude, he’s going to have to control his emotions. And he understands that. He’s a pro at what he does. You take what you get out of it. In that spot, we have an opportunity to put a professional hitter in a DH spot who doesn’t have to play the field, and we’ll take what we get.”

House of DeAndre Hopkins Jersey Cards: St. Louis celebrates at home

For about 15 seconds, it became eerily quiet in the pennant-clinching home clubhouse at Busch Stadium, where all you could hear was “Shhhhhhhhhhh.”

Men’s Nike Houston Texans 10 DeAndre Hopkins Elite White Jersey.

Then he spoke.

“I’ve heard a lot about you guys wanting to get me to a World Series,” Carlos DeAndre Hopkins Texans Jersey Beltran said. “I really appreciate that, and I expect a lot from you guys. Now let’s go get it done.”

And just like that, the party was on. Players screamed. Champagne corks popped. Beer poured. Music blared.

It’s a common scene in October and one that’s becoming a habit for a Cardinals team that is making its fourth World Series appearance since 2004. But this scene in particular has eluded Beltran. He’s been to the postseason many times, with several teams. But Beltran had never won a pennant.

Until now.

Beltran, and the Cardinals, are going to the World Series, and while many on this team have done this before, experience didn’t dull the celebration. It was loud, wet and chaotic, mirroring the scene on the field as the Cards clinched in front of their hometown fans. The fans in the stands went nuts, players’ families rushed onto the field, and platforms were frantically rolled out in anticipation of the trophy presentation. All as the skies opened up and poured on Busch Stadium.

DeAndre Hopkins Jersey Sale.

The rain was largely ignored, and the show went on. As “Taking Care of Business” blared on the loudspeakers, Bill Giles presented the Warren C. Giles Trophy to chairman and CEO Bill DeWitt, general manager John Mozeliak and manager Mike Matheny.

“I can’t even get my head around what’s happened here,” Matheny said.

Matheny had plenty of time to think about it, though. There was little intrigue attached to Game 6 of the National League Championship Series, not after the Cardinals scored four in the third inning and another five in the fifth. Couple that with Michael Wacha’s domination of the Dodgers, who amassed two hits and didn’t score, and the final frames of this game were less about nerves and anxiety and more about wondering how much longer they’d have to wait for the inevitable.

It made the DeAndre Hopkins Jersey Cards’ Game 5 loss in Los Angeles irrelevant and actually somewhat appreciated by a team that was grateful to seal the deal at home.

“Coming back here and doing it in front of our home fans, we gave them another game to watch at Busch Stadium. Seeing that confetti on the field, getting that big platform out there, getting that trophy presented in front of our home fans, that’s a special moment,” Adam Wainwright said. “I don’t think the L.A. fans would have liked it that much.”

Watching from the dugout, Wainwright said as soon as the Cardinals scored their first four runs, he just started counting down.

DeAndre Hopkins Shirts.

“As a guy on the bench, it’s a lot more nerve-racking than when you’re playing,” Wainwright said. “I just wanted to start counting outs. Every out we got, I’d say, ‘All right, 16 more outs to go. Twelve more outs to go.’ Once you start getting into single digits, then you start really getting excited.”

Despite the 9-0 final score, there were still nerves attached as the game progressed. DeWitt, noting the Dodgers are “an explosive team,” took nothing for granted until Trevor Rosenthal’s final pitch was safely tucked into catcher Yadier Molina’s glove.

The battery mates embraced, fireworks shot off beyond the outfield, the white-towel-waving crowd went wild, and Fredbird sprinted back and forth in front of the home dugout, waving a Cards flag. Wainwright got a hold of a copy of Saturday morning’s front page, which screamed in bold letters “NL Champs” — an image that was plastered on the enormous Busch Stadium video board.

Clearly, there was no mistaking who came out on top in this series. Celebrating in St. Louis, DeWitt said, was the icing on the proverbial cake.

“You look at the fans, and they’re so good, they’re so respectful and they’re so passionate about the Cardinals,” DeWitt said. “We were second in attendance, behind the Dodgers. If you consider the difference in markets, it’s pretty remarkable.”

Houston Texans DeAndre Hopkins NFL Football Uniform.

Inside the clubhouse, it was fitting that it was Beltran who kicked off the raucous celebration. Much of the talk surrounded the 36-year-old veteran and his 16 years of Major League experience — without a World Series appearance.

That’s all about to change.

“I feel like a winner right now,” Beltran said. “Being able to turn the page and being able to get to this position, I feel like a winner. I know at the end of the day, we’re going to fight. We’re going to battle, we’re going to get there. We’re going to compete hard and we’re going to try to get it done.”

Pausing, he broke out in an ear-to-ear grin.

“If we win it or not,” Beltran said, “I can say, I was there.”
