Blue Jays Ryan Goins Jerseys score 5 runs in 1st inning

SEATTLE — Chicago White Sox manager Rick Renteria was quick to pour water on the idea that there might be a pattern of his team putting up bunches of runs in the first inning. Coincidence? Maybe. But as long as it leads to wins, he’ll take it.

The White Sox scored five first-inning runs to defeat the Seattle Mariners, 8-1, on Sunday to win their third straight game Ryan Goins Jersey. That rally in the first inning marked the team’s biggest output in the opening frame this season.

Full Game Coverage

That came after Saturday’s 16-1 victory Marcus Stroman Jersey, which began with the White Sox scoring four runs in the first inning — which at the time had been their biggest first inning of the season.

Prior to this series, the White Sox hadn’t scored more than three runs in the first inning this season. Now they’ve bettered that twice in two days.

On Sunday, Mariners starter Chris Heston walked three of the first five Chicago hitters before the White Sox started chipping away for real. Yolmer Sanchez followed with a two-run single and Tim Anderson, Matt Davidson and Kevan Smith added RBI singles, all with two outs.

The singles by Anderson and Smith never even left the infield.

“I think that we just had some really good at-bats early,” Renteria said. “We took advantage of maybe some wildness. Russell Martin Jersey We were able to continue to have that running through. You need to have a knock here and there to kind of keep the runs coming across. Fortunately for us today and yesterday, it’s been going well.”

Already, that was a big difference from Saturday’s first-inning show, when Jose Abreu started with an RBI double and Avisail Garcia followed with a three-run homer.

Sunday was more like a death of 1,000 cuts. But as with Saturday, it began with a walk — several, in Sunday’s case — and Renteria will take that every time.

“I think they got in a situation early in the game [with a pitcher] who wasn’t commanding the zone,” he said. “And then, when they were swinging, they were getting balls they could put in play.”

On Saturday, White Sox starter Mike Pelfrey said the big lead at the start helped him attack the Mariners’ lineup. But a day later, a big lead was the last thing Derek Holland wanted to think about.

“To be honest, you’ve got to keep yourself focused,” Holland said. “Even though we put up five, I’ve got to treat it like it’s 0-0. My job is to make sure to shut the momentum down. We had that momentum; I don’t want to do anything to let them back into it. I was taking care of business with that and keeping the momentum on our side.Kevin Pillar Jersey

Just don’t count on these sorts of things, as Renteria pointed out.

“We’ll continue to have to scrap and push,” he said. “This isn’t an everyday occurrence, obviously. It happened back to back, but it’s not an everyday occurrence and we still have to play the game.”

Blue Jays Russell Martin Jersey rolls into clash with White Sox

When the Chicago White Sox come to Arizona’s Chase Field on Monday, they’ll face D-backs ace Zack Greinke when he’s at the top of his game. He’ll be facing White Sox right-hander Miguel Gonzalez, who is going in the opposite direction, having lost his last four starts. He’s 0-3 with a 6.23 ERA this month.

Greinke (5-2) has won four of his last Kevin Pillar Jersey five starts with a 2.94 ERA over 33 2/3 innings in that span. He’s also struck out 46 against five walks — and also given up seven homers — in that streak.

Full Game Coverage

Gonzalez (3-4) has also had Russell Martin Jersey an issue with control of late, issuing nine walks over his last two starts. He got his only career start against the D-backs on Aug. 13, 2013, a no-decision as a member of the Baltimore Orioles. The D-backs won, 4-3, in extra innings, after Gonzalez allowed two runs over seven innings.

“You don’t want to lay the ball in — the Arizona Diamondbacks are swinging the bat really well,” White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. “We have to make pitches, we have to execute. Marcus Stroman Jersey We have to play really clean baseball, that’s the bottom line.”

Ryan Goins Jersey Things to know about this game

• White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia was raking going into Saturday’s game against the Mariners — hitting .361 (13-for-36) over his previous nine games. But he absolutely crushed the ball Saturday, going 4-for-5 with two homers, and became the third White Sox player to have four extra-base hits and six RBIs in a game.

• D-backs third baseman Jake Lamb also has been torrid of late. He snapped an eight-game hitting streak on Sunday. He hit .469 (15-for-32) in that span, but he faces a different trend Monday, as he has hit .200 against American League teams this season. Something’s got to give.

• White Sox center fielder Leury Garcia came back into the starting lineup Sunday after sitting two games with a sore elbow, and his return came at the right time. He’s one of the Custom Blue Jays Jersey team’s top hitters in Monday games, hitting .500 (6-for-12) in contests at the start of the week.

Derek Holland helps Josh Donaldson jersey White Sox beat Mariners

SEATTLE — Tim Anderson provided the offensive punch and Derek Holland threw eight innings of one-run ball Sunday as the White Sox rolled to an 8-1 victory over the Mariners in their second straight runaway win at Safe Josh Donaldson Women’s Jersey Field.

The White Sox won the last three games of the four-game series, including a combined 24-2 margin over the final two days, as they improved to 20-22 on the year. Anderson went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Holland allowed six hits, including Nelson Cruz’s 11th home run of the season in the seventh.

Full Game Coverage

“It’s good to get back on the winning side,” said Anderson, whose White Sox had lost 10 of 14 prior to their current three-game winning streak. “We learned something with our losses and we kept playing through it and we just kept playing through it and having fun with it.”

Chris Heston, called up for his first Major League start since 2015 to help out an injury-ravaged Mariners rotation, lasted just three-plus innings as he yielded seven runs on seven hits and four walks. Seattle (20-25) has lost eight of its last 11 games while being outscored 65-30.

“It was a rough series obviously,” said Mariners manager Scott Servais. “The starting pitching struggled to get us in the flow of the game here the last couple nights.”

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Another fast first: The White Sox jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of Saturday’s 16-1 blowout and did themselves one better Sunday with a five-run opening frame, thanks to some help from the Mariners. Heston walked the bases loaded with two outs before Yolmer Sanchez drove in a pair with a single to Josh Donaldson Youth Jersey right. Anderson then hit a checked-swing roller to the right of the mound that rookie first baseman Daniel Vogelbach didn’t field as he instead went to the bag, allowing Anderson to reach on a run-scoring infield single. Matt Davidson and Kevan Smith followed with RBI singles, including another infield dribbler by Smith, to make it 5-0 before the Mariners came to bat. More >

Pitcher’s best friend: Holland benefited handsomely from four double plays turned behind him in the first six innings, the biggest coming when he induced a 6-4-3 twin killing from Mariners catcher Tuffy Gosewisch after Seattle had runners on the corners with one out in the fifth. He also got Guillermo Heredia to hit into two double plays, including a hard-hit line drive to third baseman Todd Frazier in the sixth when Jarrod Dyson was running from first on the pitch.

“You keep your defense on your toes and they’re going to make those plays,”Blue Jays Canada Day Jersey Holland said. “It takes — I like to say seven guys because the catcher and I don’t count. So it’s seven guys to win a game. Those guys are making the plays and doing everything we need to keep us on the field and be successful. Actually, it might be six guys. I forgot about the DH.”

QUOTABLE
“We’ll be OK. I know it’s hard for the guys in the Josh Donaldson Canada Day Jersey house right now to see that. We will eventually get healthy. We just have to continue fighting, clawing. It’s adverse times. We knew it was coming, now we have to deal with it.” — Servais, as his team works through a stretch with five starters on the disabled list

WHAT’S NEXT
White Sox: The White Sox continue their current road trip, opening a three-game series against the D-backs at Arizona’s Chase Field on Monday at 3:05 p.m. CT. Right-hander Miguel Gonzalez has had a season of swings, losing his last four starts after winning his first three decisions of 2017. He will be making his first start against Arizona since 2013.

Mariners: After an off-day Monday, the Mariners open a three-game series against the Nationals in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday at 4:05 p.m. PT with right-hander Christian Bergman making his third start. The 29-year-old threw 7 1/3 scoreless innings with just two hits in a 4-0 win over the A’s in his last outing.

White Sox Tommy Kahnle in his Josh Donaldson Jersey own words

If you talk to a lot of players, they’ll say sometimes it only takes one thing to get you going in this game. You make the adjustment and then, boom, there it is. That happened to me this year.

Everyone always has told me I have a lot of stuff. I had the velo, but I just didn’t have the consistency. This past year, I worked on my leg kick and timing to get the ball down, and I had some good results. But I didn’t have it this spring. My command was spotty from outing to outing.

I kind of readjusted toward the Josh Donaldson Canada Day Jersey of camp, but it still wasn’t fully there. Then we had a simulated game in Charlotte, N.C., right before we came to Chicago to start the season. For some reason, I decided to keep my head more in line during my delivery. I also focused more on the catcher’s glove than the catcher himself.

Normally, I would try to feel where to throw the ball, and my head would start tilting. Coaches said it was one of the reasons why my fastball was so inconsistent. To be honest, I really didn’t understand what that all meant.

That day in Charlotte, it really clicked. When I started to hit my spots, I thought, “Where did that come from? Now, I understand what they were saying.”

Now if I fall off a little bit, I know that it doesn’t feel right. I’ve been able to adjust a lot more quickly. It feels good to be able to consistently throw strikes and get ahead of the hitters. This game, though, is not easy. I don’t want to get too overconfident, but I hope it keeps going this way.

I grew up near Albany, N.Y. After my junior year, my Dad and I went to Florida to attend some summer showcase camps for college coaches. I was starting to throw harder, and I was getting some looks from colleges. Back then, the long-term goal was to get drafted, but I was realistic — I just wanted to play somewhere.

Josh Donaldson Jersey Florida Atlantic was interested, but there was a miscommunication with one of the deadlines, and I wasn’t able to enroll. Eventually, I didn’t have many options. I remembered Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla., liked me and sent an email. One of the coaches got back to me within Josh Donaldson Youth Jersey an hour and said, “Yeah, we’d love to have you.” It worked out well, as the Yankees drafted me in the fifth round in 2010.

How many players from Lynn have made it to the big leagues? You’re looking at him.

Away from baseball, I’m a huge Philadelphia Eagles and Notre Dame fan. When I was a kid, I liked the Eagles’ color green and the bird logo on the helmet. Sometimes, that’s all it takes. I’m looking forward to having former Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery on the team this year. I’ll have his jersey soon.

It’s been fun being in Chicago, because Notre Dame and the Big Ten are so big here. Derek Holland and Zach Putnam are Michigan guys. I’m sure there will be some trash talk between us when the football season starts.

I’m also into pro wrestling. I went to a lot of shows when I was a kid–and comic books. When people ask what character I would be if I was in a comic book, I say Captain America. I like what he represents.

But in real life, I would settle for Josh Donaldson Women’s Jersey being a successful Major League pitcher. I know I still have a lot of work to do.

As told to Ed Sherman.

Custom Indians Jersey Mike Trout homers as Angels sweep White Sox

ANAHEIM — Mike Trout did it again.

The reigning American League MVP homered for the fifth time in his last six

“That was unbelievable,” Angels starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker said. “That’s why he’s so fun to watch.”

Trout adds another HR to #ASGWorthy tear

Shoemaker (3-2) allowed four runs in the first two frames, including a two-run homer by Jose Abreu in the first, but nothing after that as he went 6 1/3 innings and struck out a season-high nine.

“Really, no big adjustments,” Shoemaker said. “Just staying aggressive, attacking the zone. You’ve just got to go out there and keep pitching, keep trying to get outs and put up zeros, and then your team picks you up, which is great.”

Said Angels manager Mike Scioscia: “He had to earn every out. He made some pitches when he had to, got some big strikeouts when he had to. That lineup over there, they’ve got some guys that are swinging the bat as well as anyone in the league. He got into the seventh inning, which is a good sign.”

The night didn’t go as smoothly on the mound for the White Sox. Starter Miguel

“Guys are not swinging at my pitches,” Gonzalez said. “They’re being a little more patient, and I’m falling behind. If we can fix that, then we’ll be OK. Things will change.”

Chicago starters are now 0-8 with a 6.36 ERA over the last 11 games, with opponents hitting .294 over that span. But it didn’t get any easier for the bullpen.

Anthony Swarzak relieved Gonzalez and took a streak of 19 2/3 scoreless innings to the mound, but consecutive singles by Maldonado and Cameron Maybin

“I don’t care what kind of year you’re having, what streak is going on or whatever,” Swarzak said. “If you’re giving up three consecutive hits to three consecutive batters, that’s an issue.”

Maldonado picked up his third RBI of the game with a single in the seventh in yet another four-run outburst for the Angels, who held off a late charge by the White Sox to climb above .500 for the first time since May 3.

“The character of this club is unbelievable,” Shoemaker said. “Great clubhouse,
Men’s Authentic Custom Stitched Cincinnati Reds Alternate Red Jersey Cheap great team. If we can just put it together and play well and everybody does their part, it can be really good.”

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
The Machine continues to rage: A night after hitting the game-winning RBI,
Personalized Cincinnati Reds Jersey Pujols once again came through for the Angels, drilling a two-run single to tie the game, 4-4, in the bottom of the second. He has 32 RBIs on the season.

I’ll take a Martin. Actually, make it three: Maldonado came through at the plate for the Angels, notching a season-high three RBIs. His second RBI — a dribbler down the third-base line — plated Ben Revere with the go-ahead run.

SWARZAK’S RUN ENDS
Swarzak’s run of excellence, bordering on mind-boggling, came to a temporary end in the sixth inning when the right-hander allowed three runs on three hits. Entering the night, Swarzak had allowed two hits and one walk in his last 50 batters faced and had a scoreless streak of 19 2/3 innings come to an end. He was the only pitcher remaining the Majors to work 19-plus innings without allowing a run in 2017.

QUOTABLE

Maybin’s roller stayed on the grass to stay fair and wasn’t exactly well struck.
Personalized Los Angeles Dodgers Jersey Mike Trout, who was up next, didn’t miss on his opportunity.

Trout launched an 0-1 slider for the reigning American League Most Valuable Player’s fifth home run in his last six games, giving the Angels an 8-4 advantage. That no-doubt-about-it blast to left-center ended Swarzak’s scoreless streak at 19 2/3 innings and was Trout’s first hit in seven career at-bats against the righty.

“Baseball is a funny game sometimes,” Swarzak said. “The guy’s never touched first base with me pitching. He ends up being the guy I give up the homer.”

Prior to Wednesday’s outing, Swarzak had allowed two hits and one walk over his last 50 batters faced, with 22 strikeouts and two walks. A slight rise in his fastball velocity and a couple of different variations of his slider were keys to
Youth Authentic Los Angeles Dodgers Customized Home White Baseball Jersey Cheap Swarzak’s almost unreal dominance. He was the only Major League pitcher to work 19-plus innings without allowing a run this season, and his streak left him just short of Dustin Hermanson’s franchise record of 21 scoreless innings to start a season.

White Sox starting pitchers have a 0-8 mark with a 6.36 ERA and .294 opponents average against over the last 11 games, so bigger issues exist for the team during this 2-9 funk that has them four games under .500. But Swarzak couldn’t get the job done Wednesday in a venue where the White Sox have lost 14 of their last 15 games.

“Through that stretch, I got away with some bad pitches. Nobody’s perfect,”
Website Swarzak said. “You try to minimize your misses. I’ve missed this year. I just got away with it.

“Tonight I didn’t get away with it. It was kind of the perfect storm. The first guy hits an OK slider to left field and Gonzo’s run comes across and scores. Maybin with kind of a check swing, kind of dribbler down the third-base line. That kind of hit I’ve been avoiding this year, for whatever reason. It’s just been going my way.

“There’s nothing you can do to stop that type of stuff. Today I just didn’t get the next guy. That’s what you’ve got to do. You give up those little 45-foot singles in the infield, you’ve got to get the next guy.”

Custom Yankees Jersey White Sox prospect Zack Burdi knows he’s close

INDIANAPOLIS — The phrase “Zack Burdi, White Sox closer” probably stands a

But at one point in the Downers Grove South High School career of Triple-A Charlotte’s current standout reliever, it looked as if “Zack Burdi, Bears

Full Game Coverage

“I thought I was going to be a college kicker for football,” said Burdi during a
Personalized New York Yankees Jersey recent International League road trip to Victory Field. “Baseball wasn’t really my thing.

“Then my junior year, I kind of had a little spike in my velo. I decided to run with it.”

Burdi, who was a center fielder his freshman and sophomore high school seasons, clearly appears to have made the right career choice. He misses hitting,
Men’s Authentic Customized New York Yankees Home White Stitched Jersey although he doesn’t miss facing 90-plus mph fastballs, and now inflicts the pain he once endured on opposing hitters.

Entering Tuesday’s contest, Burdi featured a 1.84 ERA over 13 games to go with five saves in six chances for the Knights. The hard-throwing right-hander has 24 strikeouts and five walks allowed in 14 2/3 innings.

His high-octane stuff would play now at the Major League level. But the White
Custom Orioles Jersey Sox are giving their No. 7 prospect time to refine his entire repertoire and approach.

“We also have to remember that literally 12 months ago he’s pitching at Louisville,” said White Sox general manager Rick Hahn of Burdi, who was the 26th overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft. “There is an acclimation process that goes on to not only pitching more regularly but what you do on your side days and the travel and doing this full-time as a professional.

“Just like we said at the Draft, he has the kind of stuff to make you think he’s going to come quickly. He has that makeup to make you think he can handle moving quickly.

“At the same time, we want him to get through some consistency and repetition,”
Personalized Baltimore Orioles Jersey Hahn said. “We want him getting acclimated to the lifestyle before he comes up here.”

Bobby Jenks and Craig Kimbrel serve as closing influences for Burdi, but it was his older brother, Nick, who had the first and ongoing impact. Nick, who pitches in the Twins system, was the closer at Louisville in 2014 before Zack took over in 2015.

As a high school kicker, Burdi once connected from 43 yards. It’s a good memory for the now 22-year-old hurler. He figures to make more Major League memories soon but isn’t thinking about a promotion.

“I’ve had things my entire life that I’ve been looking forward to, whether it was Team USA my sophomore year or the Draft my junior year,” Burdi said. “If you just put it in the back of your head and you don’t think about it, it’s going to shake out the way it’s supposed to.

“Whether that’s the way you want, that’s great. But if it doesn’t, then you just

Angels’ Kole Calhoun, Custom Orioles Jersey Mike Trout homer in win

ANAHEIM — Kole Calhoun and Mike Trout smashed back-to-back home runs off
Custom Orioles Jersey Mike Pelfrey in the fifth inning to power the Angels to a 5-3 comeback win over the White Sox in Monday night’s series opener at Angel Stadium.

Calhoun blasted a three-run homer to right-center field to tie the game, 3-3, before Trout followed with a solo shot — his 12th of the season — to left to put the Halos in front, 4-3. It was the first time the Angels have produced back-to-back home runs this year.

Full Game Coverage

Trout has now homered in four consecutive games, becoming the first Angel to accomplish the feat since Mark Trumbo did it in May 2012.

“Unbelievable,” Calhoun said. “His first game [back from hamstring tightness] he didn’t get a hit, and now he’s back to Mike Trout. Every day he’s going to amaze you with something.”

Martin Maldonado added a solo homer in the seventh to help back a strong outing from Angels right-hander Jesse Chavez, who allowed three runs on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts over seven-plus innings. Chavez became only the second Angels pitcher to work into the eighth this season, though he opened the inning by walking Tyler Saladino, prompting Angels manager Mike Scioscia to lift him in favor of Jose Alvarez. It still marked Chavez’s longest start since Aug. 19, 2015.

“I just roll with the punches,” Chavez said. “Today he was able to instill that trust in me and go back out there for that eighth. He gave me that leash, and I didn’t take advantage of it to earn that trust a little bit, but next time he gives it to me, I’m going to take it.”

Chavez retired the first nine batters he faced, but he stumbled in the fourth, yielding a two-run blast to Jose Abreu that gave the White Sox a 2-0 lead. Saladino extended Chicago’s lead to 3-0 with an RBI triple in the fifth, but that proved to be the extent of the damage against Chavez.

The White Sox threatened in the ninth, putting runners on first and second with two outs against closer Bud Norris, but Norris struck out Kevan Smith looking to
Personalized New York Yankees Jersey seal the Angels’ win. Norris recorded the final four outs of the game to pick up his eighth save of the season.

Pelfrey lasted only 4 2/3 innings in his fifth start of the season for the White Sox, surrendering four runs on three hits while walking three and striking out two. Pelfrey allowed just two baserunners through the first four innings before losing his command in the fifth, when he issued two walks and a pair of homers to fuel the Angels’ rally.

“He was throwing a lot of strikes,” said White Sox manager Rick Renteria. “His breaking ball was working well. I thought he was working both sides of the plate. In the end, it started to sputter a little bit. He gave us what he could give us. He gave us a chance to win that ballgame. And quite frankly, I didn’t take advantage of it.”

Pelfrey blamed going deep into counts on too many hitters.

“I’m pretty frustrated,” Pelfrey said. “Pretty disappointed. Pretty tough to

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Angels rock Pelfrey for four runs: The Angels had just one hit entering the bottom of the fifth inning, but they erased a three-run deficit by erupting for four runs behind Calhoun and Trout’s homers. Chavez’s shutdown inning: After the Angels took a 4-3 lead, Chavez came out for the sixth and gave up a leadoff single Melky Cabrera, putting the tying run on first for Chicago. Still, Chavez averted danger by coaxing a flyout from Abreu, a forceout from Leury Garcia and a groundout from Todd Frazier to leave the runner stranded, preserving the Halos’ slim lead.

Custom Twins Jersey White Sox hold off promoting top prospects

CHICAGO — The murmurs began on social media shortly after the White Sox optioned infielder Cody Asche to Triple-A Charlotte following Sunday’s win over
Custom Twins Jersey the Padres.

Could this move mean the arrival of Yoan Moncada, the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball per MLBPipeline.com?

When the White Sox quickly advised a pitcher would be added prior to Monday night’s series opener in Anaheim, the guessing switched to potential additions for
Custom Astros Jersey right-handed hurlers Reynaldo Lopez (No. 39 prospect overall), Carson Fulmer (No. 63) or Zack Burdi (No. 7 for White Sox). Ultimately, Men’s Authentic Personalized Houston Astros Commemorative 50th Year Alternate Orange Jersey the White Sox purchased the contract of Gregory Infante from Triple-A to fill the roster spot, a 29-year-old who had pitched well in the Minors and had a brief stint with the White Sox in ’10.

Some people point to service time as an issue for the big league start with these
Personalized Houston Astros Jersey top prospects. But as part of the ongoing rebuild, fully developing these players stands as more important than anything contractually related.

General manager Rick Hahn addressed that point during a recent conversation
Youth Authentic Custom Houston Astros Home White Commemorative 50th Anniversary Patch Jersey with MLB.com in relation to Burdi, who has 23 strikeouts and four walks over 13 2/3 innings for the Knights.

“We want him to be in a position to succeed when he gets here and not just survive,” Hahn said of Burdi but also making a point applicable to all of these prospects. “His stuff is probably good enough to survive. Now we are getting close to the point where you see that level of consistency that makes you feel comfortable to give him that next challenge here up in Chicago.”

A goal for the White Sox in regard to this critical mass of talent is having them stay in the Majors once they arrive. They don’t want Moncada to come up for a
Personalized Minnesota Twins Jersey month, not quite be ready, and then have to go back to the Minors for more seasoning.

Obviously, that callup process doesn’t rank as an exact science. Aaron Rowand and Joe Crede, two accomplished Major Leaguers who made major contributions to the 2005 White Sox World Series championship, had to go back to the Minors

So while there’s an overall desire for what shapes up as an exciting future to begin as soon as possible for the South Siders, the organization understands the wait should be worth it.

“You do want them to be as well-equipped as possible,” Hahn said. “You make adjustments to a player’s defensive approach, and you want that to become second nature at the Minor League level. When you get to the bigs, the game is a little quicker and everything moves a little faster.

“If those alterations aren’t ingrained at that point, it might be a little harder to execute up at this level. You want to be as confident as you can any changes you’ve made have taken hold and become second nature for the player.”
