ST. PETERSBURG — Chicago’s Carlos Rodon had a rough time in his first rehab start Tuesday, but he felt Josh Donaldson Jersey fully healthy. The left-hander allowed five earned runs on four hits in 3 1/3 innings for the White Sox Class A Advanced affiliate, Winston-Salem.
“Arm felt good. I felt strong,” Rodon told reporters in Carolina. “It was good to get back out there and pitch again. It’s been a little while, but it was fun to compete.”

The left-hander, who has not pitched for Chicago in the regular season because of upper-biceps bursitis, struck out the side in the first but quickly unraveled in his first appearance since Spring Training, including giving Kevin Pillar Jerseyup a home run. The former first-round pick in the 2014 Draft out of North Carolina State threw 71 pitches — 43 for strikes — and took the 6-3 loss to the Carolina Mudcats.
‘”The goal was to get up to the fifth inning but they hit me around a little bit,” Rodon said. “The goal today was to Troy Tulowitzki Jerseyfeel healthy, get up and down and work on command.”
Rodon struck out six and walked two while maintaining a fastball velocity in the mid-90s. The White Sox have not given a timetable on when Rodon will return to the Major League club but have said that the pitcher would likely need at least four starts.
In his previous two seasons with Chicago, Rodon went a combined 18-16 with a 3.90 ERA in 54 appearances — 51 starts Joe Carter Jersey — while averaging just over a strikeout per inning.

White Sox hitting coach Todd Steverson and executive vice president Ken Williams talked recently about the changes made this year by Garcia in terms of minimizing slumps and building off the positive.
“Nobody wants to look bad,” Steverson said. “And when you allow yourself to not look as good as you want for an extended period of time, people make assumptions of who you are or what you are.
“Obviously, those were well chronicled of what they thought [Garcia] was. I’m not sure he is out to disprove everybody else as much as he’s proving to himself that that’s not who he is. He’s doing a better job of it.”

Pelfrey’s string of strong outings has provided help for a White Sox rotation missing Carlos Rodon and James Shields, who are both close to returning from injuries.
Three things to know about this game
• Faria relies primarily on his fastball and changeup combination, but Kevin Pillar Jersey has added an effective cutter into the mix this year pitching in Triple-A, Josh Donaldson JerseyRays manager Kevin Cash said.
• The Rays offense strikes out more often that any team in the Majors: They’ve fanned 607 times, or 26.4 percent of plate appearances. That might not be as problematic against Pelfrey, who whiffs only 5.22 per nine innings. That’s the 11th-lowest rate of starters with at least 30 innings pitched, tied with teammate Miguel Gonzalez.
• Pelfrey has held opponents to just a .220 batting average this season, but their expected average based on Statcast hit probabilities is .263. That 43-point gap is the fourth largest for any pitcher with at least 100 opponent Russell Martin Jersey at-bats this season.

CHICAGO — In describing Avisail Garcia’s renaissance in 2017, begin with words such as recognition and Justin Smoak Jersey accountability.
Recognition, as in Garcia quickly realizes when he expands the strike zone and chases nearly unhittable pitches. Accountability, as in the White Sox right fielder becomes the first one to point out the issue.
“Same person, different thought process,” White Sox hitting coach Todd Steverson said. “Saying, ‘I know what I did and I don’t need a 45-minute session in the cage to fix myself.'”
• Cast your Esurance All-Star ballot for Garcia and other #ASGWorthy players
“Been missing a couple pitches in the middle of the strike zone and fouled off a couple pitches,” Garcia said. “You’ve got to be ready.”
Garcia’s average sat at .357 after a four-hit, six-RBI performance against the Mariners on May 20, From May 21-29, Garcia dipped into a 4-for-27 funk, with one extra-base hit and nine Ryan Goins Jersey strikeouts.
But a significant change for Garcia, 25, has been not letting slumps get too deep. That stretch was followed by an 8-for-22 run, punctuated Troy Tulowitzki Jersey by three singles in a 7-4 loss to the Tigers on Sunday.
Having a better understanding of what went wrong allows Garcia a better opportunity to build on the positive.
“Hitters always have — I wouldn’t use the word ‘fear’ — a problem with getting out,” Steverson said. “You get out a lot, but it’s like everybody wants to do well.
“So when it doesn’t happen consistently, it’s how you deal with it. He’s dealing with his outs better, understanding how that kind of correlates. ‘I’m out, but did I hit it well? I’m out, but am I out because I swung at a bad pitch?’ You are able to put those in a better place in your brain than to just say, ‘I was out.’
“It’s a question of, why were you out?” Steverson said. “Did you get out because you hit it right at somebody? In that case, what can you do? Or did you let them have an at-bat? What function did you not execute during those one or two minutes you were there?”
The 2013 three-team trade with Detroit and Boston brought Garcia to the White Sox as the center of their most recent rebuild prior to 2017. He was labeled a five-tool talent — tools which hadn’t been on display consistently until this season.
Even through his struggles, the organization stood behind Garcia. And as general manager Rick Hahn Russell Martin Jersey out recently, executive vice president Ken Williams emerged as a strong Josh Donaldson Jersey supporter. Garcia is a player who needs to be involved in all aspects of the game, so Williams believed he would excel with a return to right field from designated Jose Bautista Jersey hitter.
That support has been rewarded as Garcia develops greater knowledge of his game.
“One thing I tried to remind people around here is that his acceleration to the big leagues was really quick,” Williams told MLB.com. “But if you look at the physical talent on the guy, there’s not too many guys that have his total package.
“Sometimes you have to allow Kevin Pillar Jersey that to take a step back in your expectation and take a step forward in your patience. So yeah, I fought for him, and I’ll continue to fight for him, because I believe in him.”
SEATTLE — Chicago White Sox manager Rick Renteria was quick to pour water on the idea that there might be a pattern of his team putting up bunches of runs in the first inning. Coincidence? Maybe. But as long as it leads to wins, he’ll take it.
The White Sox scored five first-inning runs to defeat the Seattle Mariners, 8-1, on Sunday to win their third straight game Ryan Goins Jersey. That rally in the first inning marked the team’s biggest output in the opening frame this season.
Full Game Coverage
That came after Saturday’s 16-1 victory Marcus Stroman Jersey, which began with the White Sox scoring four runs in the first inning — which at the time had been their biggest first inning of the season.
Prior to this series, the White Sox hadn’t scored more than three runs in the first inning this season. Now they’ve bettered that twice in two days.
On Sunday, Mariners starter Chris Heston walked three of the first five Chicago hitters before the White Sox started chipping away for real. Yolmer Sanchez followed with a two-run single and Tim Anderson, Matt Davidson and Kevan Smith added RBI singles, all with two outs.
The singles by Anderson and Smith never even left the infield.
“I think that we just had some really good at-bats early,” Renteria said. “We took advantage of maybe some wildness. Russell Martin JerseyWe were able to continue to have that running through. You need to have a knock here and there to kind of keep the runs coming across. Fortunately for us today and yesterday, it’s been going well.”
Already, that was a big difference from Saturday’s first-inning show, when Jose Abreu started with an RBI double and Avisail Garcia followed with a three-run homer.
Sunday was more like a death of 1,000 cuts. But as with Saturday, it began with a walk — several, in Sunday’s case — and Renteria will take that every time.
“I think they got in a situation early in the game [with a pitcher] who wasn’t commanding the zone,” he said. “And then, when they were swinging, they were getting balls they could put in play.”
On Saturday, White Sox starter Mike Pelfrey said the big lead at the start helped him attack the Mariners’ lineup. But a day later, a big lead was the last thing Derek Holland wanted to think about.
“To be honest, you’ve got to keep yourself focused,” Holland said. “Even though we put up five, I’ve got to treat it like it’s 0-0. My job is to make sure to shut the momentum down. We had that momentum; I don’t want to do anything to let them back into it. I was taking care of business with that and keeping the momentum on our side.Kevin Pillar Jersey”
Just don’t count on these sorts of things, as Renteria pointed out.
“We’ll continue to have to scrap and push,” he said. “This isn’t an everyday occurrence, obviously. It happened back to back, but it’s not an everyday occurrence and we still have to play the game.”

When the Chicago White Sox come to Arizona’s Chase Field on Monday, they’ll face D-backs ace Zack Greinke when he’s at the top of his game. He’ll be facing White Sox right-hander Miguel Gonzalez, who is going in the opposite direction, having lost his last four starts. He’s 0-3 with a 6.23 ERA this month.
Greinke (5-2) has won four of his last Kevin Pillar Jersey five starts with a 2.94 ERA over 33 2/3 innings in that span. He’s also struck out 46 against five walks — and also given up seven homers — in that streak.

Gonzalez (3-4) has also had Russell Martin Jerseyan issue with control of late, issuing nine walks over his last two starts. He got his only career start against the D-backs on Aug. 13, 2013, a no-decision as a member of the Baltimore Orioles. The D-backs won, 4-3, in extra innings, after Gonzalez allowed two runs over seven innings.
“You don’t want to lay the ball in — the Arizona Diamondbacks are swinging the bat really well,” White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. “We have to make pitches, we have to execute. Marcus Stroman JerseyWe have to play really clean baseball, that’s the bottom line.”
• White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia was raking going into Saturday’s game against the Mariners — hitting .361 (13-for-36) over his previous nine games. But he absolutely crushed the ball Saturday, going 4-for-5 with two homers, and became the third White Sox player to have four extra-base hits and six RBIs in a game.
• D-backs third baseman Jake Lamb also has been torrid of late. He snapped an eight-game hitting streak on Sunday. He hit .469 (15-for-32) in that span, but he faces a different trend Monday, as he has hit .200 against American League teams this season. Something’s got to give.
• White Sox center fielder Leury Garcia came back into the starting lineup Sunday after sitting two games with a sore elbow, and his return came at the right time. He’s one of the Custom Blue Jays Jersey team’s top hitters in Monday games, hitting .500 (6-for-12) in contests at the start of the week.

SEATTLE — Tim Anderson provided the offensive punch and Derek Holland threw eight innings of one-run ball Sunday as the White Sox rolled to an 8-1 victory over the Mariners in their second straight runaway win at Safe Josh Donaldson Women’s Jersey Field.
The White Sox won the last three games of the four-game series, including a combined 24-2 margin over the final two days, as they improved to 20-22 on the year. Anderson went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Holland allowed six hits, including Nelson Cruz’s 11th home run of the season in the seventh.

“It’s good to get back on the winning side,” said Anderson, whose White Sox had lost 10 of 14 prior to their current three-game winning streak. “We learned something with our losses and we kept playing through it and we just kept playing through it and having fun with it.”
Chris Heston, called up for his first Major League start since 2015 to help out an injury-ravaged Mariners rotation, lasted just three-plus innings as he yielded seven runs on seven hits and four walks. Seattle (20-25) has lost eight of its last 11 games while being outscored 65-30.
“It was a rough series obviously,” said Mariners manager Scott Servais. “The starting pitching struggled to get us in the flow of the game here the last couple nights.”
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED Another fast first: The White Sox jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of Saturday’s 16-1 blowout and did themselves one better Sunday with a five-run opening frame, thanks to some help from the Mariners. Heston walked the bases loaded with two outs before Yolmer Sanchez drove in a pair with a single to Josh Donaldson Youth Jersey right. Anderson then hit a checked-swing roller to the right of the mound that rookie first baseman Daniel Vogelbach didn’t field as he instead went to the bag, allowing Anderson to reach on a run-scoring infield single. Matt Davidson and Kevan Smith followed with RBI singles, including another infield dribbler by Smith, to make it 5-0 before the Mariners came to bat. More >
Pitcher’s best friend: Holland benefited handsomely from four double plays turned behind him in the first six innings, the biggest coming when he induced a 6-4-3 twin killing from Mariners catcher Tuffy Gosewisch after Seattle had runners on the corners with one out in the fifth. He also got Guillermo Heredia to hit into two double plays, including a hard-hit line drive to third baseman Todd Frazier in the sixth when Jarrod Dyson was running from first on the pitch.
“You keep your defense on your toes and they’re going to make those plays,”Blue Jays Canada Day Jersey Holland said. “It takes — I like to say seven guys because the catcher and I don’t count. So it’s seven guys to win a game. Those guys are making the plays and doing everything we need to keep us on the field and be successful. Actually, it might be six guys. I forgot about the DH.”
“We’ll be OK. I know it’s hard for the guys in the Josh Donaldson Canada Day Jersey house right now to see that. We will eventually get healthy. We just have to continue fighting, clawing. It’s adverse times. We knew it was coming, now we have to deal with it.” — Servais, as his team works through a stretch with five starters on the disabled list
WHAT’S NEXT White Sox: The White Sox continue their current road trip, opening a three-game series against the D-backs at Arizona’s Chase Field on Monday at 3:05 p.m. CT. Right-hander Miguel Gonzalez has had a season of swings, losing his last four starts after winning his first three decisions of 2017. He will be making his first start against Arizona since 2013.
Mariners: After an off-day Monday, the Mariners open a three-game series against the Nationals in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday at 4:05 p.m. PT with right-hander Christian Bergman making his third start. The 29-year-old threw 7 1/3 scoreless innings with just two hits in a 4-0 win over the A’s in his last outing.

If you talk to a lot of players, they’ll say sometimes it only takes one thing to get you going in this game. You make the adjustment and then, boom, there it is. That happened to me this year.
Everyone always has told me I have a lot of stuff. I had the velo, but I just didn’t have the consistency. This past year, I worked on my leg kick and timing to get the ball down, and I had some good results. But I didn’t have it this spring. My command was spotty from outing to outing.
I kind of readjusted toward the Josh Donaldson Canada Day Jersey of camp, but it still wasn’t fully there. Then we had a simulated game in Charlotte, N.C., right before we came to Chicago to start the season. For some reason, I decided to keep my head more in line during my delivery. I also focused more on the catcher’s glove than the catcher himself.
Normally, I would try to feel where to throw the ball, and my head would start tilting. Coaches said it was one of the reasons why my fastball was so inconsistent. To be honest, I really didn’t understand what that all meant.
That day in Charlotte, it really clicked. When I started to hit my spots, I thought, “Where did that come from? Now, I understand what they were saying.”
Now if I fall off a little bit, I know that it doesn’t feel right. I’ve been able to adjust a lot more quickly. It feels good to be able to consistently throw strikes and get ahead of the hitters. This game, though, is not easy. I don’t want to get too overconfident, but I hope it keeps going this way.
I grew up near Albany, N.Y. After my junior year, my Dad and I went to Florida to attend some summer showcase camps for college coaches. I was starting to throw harder, and I was getting some looks from colleges. Back then, the long-term goal was to get drafted, but I was realistic — I just wanted to play somewhere.
Josh Donaldson Jersey Florida Atlantic was interested, but there was a miscommunication with one of the deadlines, and I wasn’t able to enroll. Eventually, I didn’t have many options. I remembered Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla., liked me and sent an email. One of the coaches got back to me within Josh Donaldson Youth Jersey an hour and said, “Yeah, we’d love to have you.” It worked out well, as the Yankees drafted me in the fifth round in 2010.
How many players from Lynn have made it to the big leagues? You’re looking at him.
Away from baseball, I’m a huge Philadelphia Eagles and Notre Dame fan. When I was a kid, I liked the Eagles’ color green and the bird logo on the helmet. Sometimes, that’s all it takes. I’m looking forward to having former Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery on the team this year. I’ll have his jersey soon.
It’s been fun being in Chicago, because Notre Dame and the Big Ten are so big here. Derek Holland and Zach Putnam are Michigan guys. I’m sure there will be some trash talk between us when the football season starts.
I’m also into pro wrestling. I went to a lot of shows when I was a kid–and comic books. When people ask what character I would be if I was in a comic book, I say Captain America. I like what he represents.
But in real life, I would settle for Josh Donaldson Women’s Jersey being a successful Major League pitcher. I know I still have a lot of work to do.
As told to Ed Sherman.

Shoemaker (3-2) allowed four runs in the first two frames, including a two-run homer by Jose Abreu in the first, but nothing after that as he went 6 1/3 innings and struck out a season-high nine.
“Really, no big adjustments,” Shoemaker said. “Just staying aggressive, attacking the zone. You’ve just got to go out there and keep pitching, keep trying to get outs and put up zeros, and then your team picks you up, which is great.”
Said Angels manager Mike Scioscia: “He had to earn every out. He made some pitches when he had to, got some big strikeouts when he had to. That lineup over there, they’ve got some guys that are swinging the bat as well as anyone in the league. He got into the seventh inning, which is a good sign.”

SWARZAK’S RUN ENDS
Swarzak’s run of excellence, bordering on mind-boggling, came to a temporary end in the sixth inning when the right-hander allowed three runs on three hits. Entering the night, Swarzak had allowed two hits and one walk in his last 50 batters faced and had a scoreless streak of 19 2/3 innings come to an end. He was the only pitcher remaining the Majors to work 19-plus innings without allowing a run in 2017.
“He got a little tight on the ball he hit to the wall in right-center [in the fifth inning]. Running, he felt OK. In the [sixth], he was a little tight so we took him out as a precaution. Right now, it’s day to day.” — Scioscia, on pinch-running for Pujols after he walked in the sixth inning

That no-doubt-about-it blast to left-center ended Swarzak’s scoreless streak at 19 2/3 innings and was Trout’s first hit in seven career at-bats against the righty.
“Baseball is a funny game sometimes,” Swarzak said. “The guy’s never touched first base with me pitching. He ends up being the guy I give up the homer.”
Prior to Wednesday’s outing, Swarzak had allowed two hits and one walk over his last 50 batters faced, with 22 strikeouts and two walks. A slight rise in his fastball velocity and a couple of different variations of his slider were keys to
Youth Authentic Los Angeles Dodgers Customized Home White Baseball Jersey Cheap Swarzak’s almost unreal dominance. White Sox starting pitchers have a 0-8 mark with a 6.36 ERA and .294 opponents average against over the last 11 games, so bigger issues exist for the team during this 2-9 funk that has them four games under .500. But Swarzak couldn’t get the job done Wednesday in a venue where the White Sox have lost 14 of their last 15 games.
“Through that stretch, I got away with some bad pitches. Nobody’s perfect,” Website Swarzak said. “You try to minimize your misses. I’ve missed this year. I just got away with it.
“Tonight I didn’t get away with it. It was kind of the perfect storm. The first guy hits an OK slider to left field and Gonzo’s run comes across and scores. Maybin with kind of a check swing, kind of dribbler down the third-base line. That kind of hit I’ve been avoiding this year, for whatever reason. It’s just been going my way.
“There’s nothing you can do to stop that type of stuff. Today I just didn’t get the next guy. That’s what you’ve got to do. You give up those little 45-foot singles in the infield, you’ve got to get the next guy.”
